Baby's first X-mas presents

DH and I can not figure out what we should do for DD x-mas this year. She will only be 4 months old so my thought is that she will really be too young to appreciate presents. DH on the other hand would buy her a pony if it would make her smile just once. (totally different ends of the spectrum here as you can see)

What did you do for your LO first holiday season if they were only a few months old?

A really special ornament is a good keepsake!

At 4 months, my kids LOVED the jumperoo. If you don't have one, it's going to make her smile!

I think around 5-6 months I was ready for some new toys. Maybe think ahead to some things she'll use once she's sitting up. I like any of the FP brilliant basics stuff, especially the ring stacker and shape sorter blocks. DD also loved the bright starts teether crinkly books, her lamaze owl, the o ball, and bath books by 4 months. You could also get a music table. We started using that without the legs by 6 months.

I think one toy and two outfits. Oh and her personalized dolly.

My DD was 6 months and really didn't care for anything. Save your time and money...

We didn't get anything for DS - he was only 3 months old. He had no idea what Christmas gifts were.

We told our families to just contribute to his mutual fund whatever amount they would have spent on an actual gift.

I bought a couple of the car seat toys and will wrap them up so i have something for photos for her to "open" on xmas day.I randomly buy so many things for her that she has enough. i need a new jumperoo so maybe ill use that as her "gift".

DD is going to be 5 mos a week after Christmas. I'm going to try and not go nuts with the gifts. She'll be more aware for next year but it's so hard!

We'll do some clothes and toys. I really want to get her an id bracelet. It's tradition in my family. My maternal grandfather bought me one and it's one of my most treasured possessions. I think my parents want to get her this though and maybe for her baptism.

DD was 2 months old for her first Hanukkah. We got her items that she could grow into and use as she was older - things for 6 -10 month old children. Since she was our second DC we already had almost everything we needed for her already.

What we had our parents/inlaws do was get DD an American Girl doll. DD is now 4 years old and the doll was in our closet until a few weeks ago when she received it for her 4th birthday. We took her to the AG store and as a family celebrated her birthday. It was very special and really offset the cost of the day. I was really happy to have planned ahead like this and so were the grandparents. My DD was thrilled.

We did some 6 mo toys. They were only 2.5 mo at xmas.

dd was almost 2 months at her first Christmas. I got her some books... she's always loved being read to. and santa brought her an activity mat, which she liked right away and grew to love it more and more. also this snail toy that had a mirror as the shell, and rolled, lights up and plays music. I used it during tummy time and she still loves it at 11.5 months.

My DD was 3 months old for her first Xmas. I bought a few toys for her...............squishy books, infant toys and teethers, a few toys for when she was a little older. Obviously she had no clue but we wanted gifts under the tree and things to open for/with her on Xmas morning.

I agree to look ahead and buy some things that will carry you through the year! DD Also had some definite favorite toys at that age as well - baby Einstein music drums, fisher price kick n play piano. But you can't go wrong with an activity table, stacking donuts, lift the flap books, shape sorter, balls!
