Children 5+ years apart
Please tell me this will be fine! I am starting to have anxiety about this. DS is dying for a baby brother or sister and even put it on his wish list for Chanukah this year. However, I am afraid that I am going to be so overwhelmed with them so far apart in age.

Children 5+ years apart
I had it both ways growing up. I have a brother 12.5 months younger and another 7 years younger. My youngest brother was very go-with-the-flow as an infant because my mom was taking him to all of our school events and activities. He was diagnosed with Autism when he was two, so my other brother and I grew up very protective of him, as did our friends. The three of us are close and my youngest brother is an awesome uncle to my son and my brother's son.

Children 5+ years apart
My husband and his brother are 5 years apart. My MIL has told me COUNTLESS times how it is the perfect age gap. She says how she really got to enjoy each of their infancy stages, and how my husband was such a great help with his baby brother, and how he was so independent at 5 that it made things very easy.

Re: Children 5+ years apart
I have 2 brothers, one is 5 years older than me & the other is 10 years older than me. I loved it growing up because I felt like I got the attention of an only child (well, almost) while having 2 brothers old enough to teach me things & help me with things. I'm still close with both of them.

Children 5+ years apart
My kids will be 6+ years apart. From everything I have read it seems the positives outweigh the negative by a lot. I feel a lot better about the age gap after reading peoples take on spacing kids farther apart.

This is what my mom always says. My sister and I are 5 1/2 years apart. She thought it was perfect. We are super close now too so it's not too big of a gap IMO.

Re: Children 5+ years apart
My dd will be born approximately two weeks prior to my ds turning five. I too was nervous but having talk to a lot of people and also noticing the age difference of people who have similar circumstances I am no longer worried. Ds is old enough that he can do a lot for himself and he is beyond excited about the baby coming. I think it will be a perfect age difference for our family.
