Mommy & Me for Grandmas ?
Hi Ladies, looking for some help/advice for my friend.
She babysits her 18 month old grandson and is looking for activities she can do with him to get out of the house and to socialize. Something like a mommy & me program.
Is there something like that out there where grandmas and grandpas can participate ?
They live in Levittown but are willing to travel.
I shared with her the link of things to do on Long Island, and she absolutely loved it.

Mommy & Me for Grandmas ?
She could go to any mommy and me class. I do one in massapequa with my dd and there are a few grandmas in the class.

My DH and I take our son to the Little Gym on Saturday mornings. We started at the one in Levittown and now go to the one in Merrick. There always seems to be one set of grandparents in the mix watching their little one on any given weekend. The Little Gym is great too b/c it's hands on but if the Grandma can't lift the child up or get on the floor with the kids, they always make arrangements so everyone is comfortable and happy.
Little Gym has classes all week and weekends for all ages. Great socialization for kids and adults.

There are always grandparents at the library classes we go to.
There are also grandmas at the gymnastics class we go to.

I Agree she can do any mommy and me type class, library class, etc. I took DS to little gym during the week and it seemed to be almost more grandmoms than moms there with the kids! Same with library classes. Music together or kindermusik would be great too!

My mom used to take DS to all the classes while DH and I worked in Manhattan. Most of the toddler classes were not labeled as mommy and me. An adult had to be present but half the time they were nannies. There were moms of course and plenty of grandparents.

My MIL took DD to gymboree and now she takes her to ballet. I think that they can just do regular things as most times there are other grandparents there.

I second YMCA recommendation. They call it You and Baby or something similar and every class I've taken has been a mix of moms, nannies/sitters, and dads—definitely not all mommies.

The library program I went to (east meadow) has had many grandmothers. I would say to just join any program she wants.
