Would you call a high-risk OB??

I delivered DS at 30w4d due to my water breaking. I just found out that I'm expecting twins and so scared of delivering early again.

My OB doesn't know why my water broke, although I believe it had to do with a urinary tract infection.

Would you call a high-risk doc? Should I ask my RE, who is still watching me until I see my OB in a couple weeks? Should I wait and ask my OB or just try and get an appointment now?

I'm a little over 6 weeks now.

Thanks girls!!!Chat Icon

More than likely your OB will want you to see a high risk because you are PG with multiples that were conceived via IVF. And even if the OB doesn't want you to see one, you may want to just for your peace of mind, even if it's just for a consultation.

Crashing but yes I would. Mother of triplets here! Multiples are always high risk but many regular obs insist they can handle twins. With your history i would absolutely see a high risk doc. If you are in queens or Nassau I recommend victor Klein - he is a highly respected perinatologist and his specialty is multiple gestation. He delivers too and his partners are all excellent.

this, I only say this based on research and history of multiple MC. I would just to be on the safe side. I like my Obgyn but I think I would feel much better with the help of a specialist.

Thanks, all. Do I need a referral from my OB? I guess I should just wait until I talk to her, right?

Wait until you meet with your OB. She may have someone she recommends.

Kofinas. You can self-refer. My friend had her first daughter very early (lived out of state), went to Kofinas when pregnant with second daughter and he got her through to full term.

This! Kofinas is amazing!!!!!!! I don't even know where to begin on praising him! The only thing is they are out of network for ALL insurances so you end up paying a co-payment of some sorts which may be high, but this depends on how good your insurance is and you can negotiate with them to just pay a small amount each visit. I pay around $50-$100 per visit but my insurance sucks and it's very much worth it! Good luck!!!

Out of network for all insurances? Ugh. I don't know. Chat Icon maybe I will have to use someone in network. I'm already thinking of the cost of 3 in diapers!

Yes but it's really worth to give them a call and have their billing person run the numbers for you. They don't always expect the full amount of the co-payment.

Yes! Definitely with twins. Call Kofinas. He only works with certain OBs though. I saw a high risk OB and kofinas.
