I assume you mean on bottles.
I use Dr. Browns and they are age specific.

i'm using avent and they are by age as well. She will be a month old next week...do I just switch?

I would... I don't really feed DD with a bottle that often (daycare does), but I just switched the nipple by age. If the next nipple is too much for her, you can always go back.

Try the next size and if it's too fast, switch back until the baby's ready.

I go by how DD s u c k s them, if she compresses the nipple, falls asleep, seems to be getting frustrated trying to eat, i go up. I just recently went up from the newborn to size 1s in advent a couple weeks ago. She is doing well on them. I don't go by the age thing, i think that' totally a way to get a mommy to spend hard earned money coming from a marketing background
