bathtime with an 8 month old
where do you bathe them? DD is still using the little tub that we put in our sink - and she seems happy (she LOVES bath time). but she loves it even more if DH and i take a bath with her in the normal tub. can we put her in there alone at this age (obviously we would not leave the bathroom) im just concerned about having her in the tub without us. at what age did you put dc in the tub alone? do we have any other options?
eta - for everyone that uses the inflatable tub do you keep it blown up all the time? if so, where do you keep it?

Re: bathtime with an 8 month old
I used a bath seat in the tub from like 5 months to 10 months, then just used a bath mat around the 10 month mark. I hated the sink tub when she started moving around more.

Re: bathtime with an 8 month old
DD sits SO well but she doesn't do well in the tub alone with normal levels of water for a bath. She looses her balance.
So...
I leave the water running and the drain open and I wash her down. She splashes around. Then I just lay her back (flat in the tub) to rinse her hair. There is never more than 1/2 inch to 1 inch of water in there
Works for now!

Re: bathtime with an 8 month old
We used the blow up duck in the shower at that age. We also had the seat to put in the bath that kept DS up. We also had a chair type that looked like a lounge chair we put DS1 in. DS2 used the duck bath till about 13 months.
ETA - we also use the rubber mat on the bottom to keep them from slipping

DD is 16 months and I still use the inflatable tub inside our reg tub.
It's just easier for me.

We use a bath ring - for 15 month old. My sister had it from when her boys were little. I don't think they sell them anymore because parents were leaving their kids in them and leaving the bathroom and kids were drowning. Sucks that stupid people have to ruin it for the rest of us.

Re: bathtime with an 8 month old
I had seen the bath ring/seat at BuyBuy Baby well after it was recalled so I think they were still selling it. Haven't been there recently so I can't comment on whether they still sell it.
We still bathe DS in the baby tub. He sits alone in it and does well. Only problem is he now stands up in it, too! I don't plan on putting him into the real tub for a while still, since I like to keep him "contained" while he's standing.

When we used the inflatable tub, we kept it hanging from the shower curtain hook. Our tub had a little hole from which you could hang it.

I still use the bath ring for my 15 month old too. It just makes me feel more secure, and she likes it. They still sell them in BBB.

exactly what we did too
then as he got too big for the inflatable tub and once he was able to sit up on his own and not topple over, we just put him in the regular bath.

I just looked it up. It looks like they were all recalled. I would try the blow up ones that go in the tub maybe?

We just have a soft mat thing and use the regular tub. I started with both my girls when they are totally steady while sitting. I want to say it was 6 months with DD1 and 7.5 months with DD2. I just started bathing them together and DD2 is 8 months.

Re: bathtime with an 8 month old
We use the infant tub (the hard plastic fisher price one) inside the big tub. When I was at my parents, I tried just normal in the tub (w/o an infant tub), with a towel on the tub bottom to prevent slipping but it was hard to lay dd back to rinse her hair. Water got in her face and she snorted it up and she screamed and screamed!

Re: bathtime with an 8 month old
Ds is 10 months and uses the tub and has been now for 2-3 months. He is a big boy and outgrew his infant bath a while ago. He sits very well and I never leave him alone. Sometimes my older DS will take a bath with him
