How much out of pocket did freezing embryos cost?
Apparently my ins won't cover freezing unless I am over 38 so I am going to pay out of pocket. My overall out of pocket for IVF including this is around $4000. She said that if I have none to freeze, she will refund. Does that sound about right? I have GHI city of ny and they cover 75% of treatment.

Just want to add that they are covering ICSI which is awesome for us being that we have pretty bad male factor.

I believe it is about 1200-1500 not positive because we didn't have any to freeze......

I have GHI NYC too. I didn't have any to freeze last time we did IVF so IDK.
This time I am using RsofNYs lab and there wasn't anything about the freezing costs in their paperwork I signed. They aren't charging anything for freezing up front that I know about...spoke with the IVF coordinator today. I have to pay about $1900 for ER and ET and ICSI is an additional $2500 which we are prob doing again. These fees do not include copays for office visits. Insurance won't cover ICSI for us since we are unexplained.
Now you are making me wonder about the freezing costs. I hope I don't have to pay those up front on Sunday... For IVF with Dr. Zapantis last cycle I didn't have to pay any freezing costs up front the RSofNY person didn't even mention it.

At NSUH cryopreservation is $1500 out of pocket and includes 1 year of storage.

At NSUH cryopreservation is $1500 out of pocket and includes 1 year of storage.
My oop at NSUH was less -- closer to $750. We pay everything oop not sure if that makes a difference.
eta- with Palter you pay NSUH lab fees.

Really?!? Are you sure that was the first year price? I know that yearly storage after the first year is $830. I am really upset that they would charge me so much more.
Here is the exact language from my letter:
"cryopreservation (freezing) of excess embryos ($1500), cryopreservation of sperm ($350), and short-term storage of cryopreserved sperm ($250) are not covered under your policy."
Why would my not covered, thus "out of pocket", costs be SO much more?? That is not right.

RSNY it was $780 for 1 yr of storage. I have GHI with the city as well.

So does this mean you did a cycle with NSUH and had to lay for cryopreservation and then you did a cycle at RSofNY with the same insurance coverage and it was fully covered?? I'm so confused!!!

LIIVF charged us $1150 for the first 6 mos that was with no insurance. We had none to freeze so they will refund it back to us
