?! Eek...
Hi Girls,
So hubby & I met with my current (now former) RE to discuss what happened and where to go next. He doesn't know what happened- he found the problem (LPD b/c of low progesterone) and he corrected it with Crinone 2x daily. So he's not sure why this happened and said the Crinone isn't a surefire bet and if we were to go it again it could be fine. But he said he really doesn't know where to go next- that all my blood came out normal. So I explained I want to go to Braverman for a 2nd opinion.. maybe its something autoimmune, etc. He basically told me that his schooling doesn't necessarily believe in that but he's hearing more about it. He said be careful with Braverman b/c he'll do like 30 vials of blood and he will find SOME sort of autoimmune issue with all of his patients. He said all humans have some sort of response to something even though its minimal but that he'll medicate me heavily for something. He suggests I go to a perinatologist instead, that they'll do similar blood work but be more discerning with it. I spoke to some family last night and they know Victor Klein in Great Neck and heard very good things. So now I'm unsure about Braverman; he's charging me $900 for a consult- and I see his advertisements everywhere (here on the boards, in my teacher union magazine).. so I find that a bit off-putting. Does anyone know anything about a perinatologist? I plan on calling this Victor character today and inquiring about my situation. Its just kind of scary and alarming when an RE shrugs and says he doesn't know what's going on. I had quite the sleepless night...

I spoke on the phone with Dr Braverman about a year or so ago. I decided not to go with him because he's expensive and has long wait times for monitoring. I read some pretty bad reviews elsewhere on the internet too.

Re: ?! Eek...
And in addition, my acupuncturist suggested I go with an RE like Dr. Palter instead of Braverman .

I have very strong feelings against dr b. the girls that love him do so because he helped them. I get that. All I'm saying is he is not the end all be all. And if you have ins coverage go somewhere that takes it. This journey is long and expensive and IMO you don't was to deal with the BS that comes along with his office.

You may also want to see if your insurance covers SIRM. They also do autoimmune testing like dr. b.

Re: ?! Eek...
I know people have wonderful things to say about Dr. B. 3 Years ago I consulted with him while seeing Palter after one chemical. Dr. B said he would monitor me for possible immune issues and consult with Palter while I did and an FET with Palter for something like $3,000-$4,000. This was so off putting and made it feel like he was $ hungry. I am sure he is a good doctor but come one - he knew at that time we were completely oop. Good Luck!

Re: ?! Eek...
My RE said the exact same thing ab Bravernan.. Said he is a great Dr but uses 'fringe' methods lol Don't get me wrong, I love Drs who look outside of the box but what made me not consider him was the out of pocket expense. I have great IVF coverage so it just made more sense to research someone who is great but in network. I also rec SIRM. I am currently on their waiting list and they specialize in DOR and loss. They also accept ins. Another great Dr that girls highly rec is Kofinas. Good luck!

The things that have been said about Braverman have been said about Kofinas. I have yet to speak to any Kofinas patient who isn't on Lovenox. When I went to see him, he told me that I needed Lovenox and wanted me to start it while I had a huge, bleeding SCH. It didn't sit well with me that every single kofinas patient is on Lovenox; I consulted with 2 more MFMs and 3 hematologists. Not only did none of them agree with him, but the minute I said I saw a dr who wanted me on Lovenox, they all said, "Oh, you saw Kofinas, right?" I know women here swear by Kofinas, but, in my opinion, it's similar to the way people swear by Braverman.

I understand that is must be unsettling to not know why a cycle didn't work, but sometimes I think there is no answer. Sometimes miscarriages happen and doctors can't identify why. I don't think it means that your current RE isn't doing his job or that things an indicator of a future cycle. Perfectly healthy people don't get pregnant every time they have sex during ovulation, and they can have a miscarriage or a CP.
Get another opinion if it makes you feel better! But sometimes the answer isn't a change to protocol, but just try again.im so sorry you are going through this. I hope you find a doctor that you trust.

It's so confusing because many girls love him on here and they highly recommend him. Other girls warned me to be careful with him.
Girls that love him likely got pregnant by him, girls that don't likely did not have success. I'm speaking as someone who doesn't like Dr. Brenner at LIIVF AT ALL - he didn't get me pregnant. But I LOVE Dr. San Roman - I'm 13w1d from him. Success or lack thereof really does skew the perspective of why you like or dislike a doctor.
It's more important that you go to a doctor you feel comfortable with, who fits into your schedule (if he/she doesn't that will add stress to the process for you), who addresses the questions and concerns you have, etc etc.
Of course SART rates are important, but most of the well-known names out there have had a decent amount of success.
It's possible no doctor will be able to tell you why your prior cycles didn't work. I have three failures behind me and have no idea why. There are way too many factors with this process for anyone to tell you with certainty what went wrong - they can only speculate.

Re: ?! Eek...
Hi girls, so I am going to have a consultation with the perinatologist that Dr. Kreiner recommended I see. Dr. Bergman does autoimmune testing among other things. So that is the deal! At least I feel good that I have somebody else to go to. And In a way, maybe it's a good thing that I will have the D&C to clean everything out and also to have tissue possibly analyzed.

Re: ?! Eek...
I just want to thanks all the girls who posted on this thread. I'm glad I'll be getting further testing elsewhere and I don't really have harsh feelings towards LI IVF.. And they're very convenient for monitoring... So who knows- I may be back there at some point in my journey!!!
