Rope drop @ Disney ?
do they still do the big train ride in with the characters and the song? (in magic kingdom, I mean)

Yes on regular opening days. EMH mornings I can't remember if they don't do it....or if was just a smaller version.

Do regular guests get to go in at 8:30 (normal rope drop time) on extra magic hours?
We wasted our extra magic hour last time. We paid the premium to stay at poly but the monorail was down the morning we were going for extra magic hour. We wasted about 30-40 min trying to get on a bus or train but buses to MK don't normally come to poly. We got to MK around 830, which I think is when everyone else gets to go in.
