Contemporary Women's Care in Islandia
Has anyone else been there? I've been seeing Dr Rubin for a while and I love her. I recently had a miscarriage and had to see another Dr there as an emergency - she was so rude and not at all compassionate. I had to follow up 2 days later and first saw a sono tech who was not informed of my background at all and congratulated me on a sac and printed a pic of it but said it was too early to see a heartbeat bc I looked like I was only 5 weeks.. I was 7w5d then I saw Dr Escamilia- she was so caring and answered all my questions that the other doctor didnt. I had to have bloodwork again - the NP called me to tell me my bloodwork looked great in comparison with my sono and said I was 4 weeks pregnant.. in reality I was 7 weeks so those numbers were awful but for some reason she didnt know the situation which is insane. I just found out I'm pregnant again and am really considering leaving the practice and making my initial appointment elsewhere - I'm just torn bc I love Dr Rubin. Does anyone else use this group and have some feedback? And does anyone know if I would be required to see every doctor during my pregnancy or can I stick with Dr Rubin and Escamilia only? I just felt like they were really bad at communicating with each other. I have never experienced this when I was only seeing Dr Rubin

Yes, I do go there, and by process of elimination I can tell which doctor you are referring to. My friend loves her, but when DH and I saw her, she was very short with us and didn't even ask if we had any questions...weird. Anyhow, yes, they want you to see each doctor at least once. Their reason is because they want you to become familiar with each because they can't predict who will be there during delivery. I have seen each doctor, and now I request who I want to see.

I haven't posted yet because DH and I plan on TTC next month. I had an etopic pregnancy a year ago. Dr. McKenna was able to do reconstructive surgery on my other tube. An HSG test showed he was able to save that tube. He has been nothing but understanding and sympathetic towards my situation and feelings. They are a large practice though and information such as your loss might not have reached the sonotech. If you like the other Drs, I would try to avoid seeing her if possible.

I never used this practice but usually in group practices you do see each doctor during your pregnancy because no telling who you'll end up with on D-day.
Based in what you described I would switch practices because it sounded as if they did not read your chart before speaking to you. That would leave me uneasy.

I have actually heard that Dr McKenna is amazing .. which is why I switched to that practice but the wait to see him was really long so I saw Dr Rubin first.. and loved her. I'm happy to hear that he's also nice and understanding like Dr Rubin and Dr Escamilia.. I believe it's just those 4?? which means I'd just have to avoid seeing that one. I felt like all the errors in the techs and nurses all being uninformed started with her also- since she's the one who had seen me and didnt document important facts about my situation

There are only 4 doctors so hopefully you would be able to avoid that dr. It is hard to get an appointment with him. I just called to make an appt to discuss TTC and he is booking into October. The nurse asked if I would see another Dr and I explained that I only want to see him after my situation.Luckily the nurse was able to squeeze me in. You have to go where you feel comfortable.
