ET - Need Some Opinions
Some background: I'm 38. We had 5 failed IUIs and are smack dab in the middle of our first IVF. We used assisted hatching and ICSI and are scheduled for a 5dt Tuesday.
We have 5 fertilized embryos. Would you transfer 2 or 3 embryos? I don't know their quality, yet.
How many days should I take off for the transfer? I was thinking just the day of.
Thanks!

ET - Need Some Opinions
It really depends on the quality. If they are high quality, I would put back 2. If they are lesser quality, I would put back 3.
Your RE and embryologist will most likely give you a recommendation based on quality.
You really only need to be off the day of the transfer. I teach and did my cycle over the summer so I had off the next day, but I went to the grocery store and what not so it was not like I was sitting around doing nothing.

Re: ET - Need Some Opinions
I'm 38 also. I'd talk with the RE for a recommendation on Tuesday. There is always a chance that all 3 could implant, so you and your DH should discuss your comfort level with multiples or selective reduction.
When I did my IVF last year, my RE was talking about transferring 3 the entire time. We never had to make the decision of 3 vs 2 because we only wound up with 2. We transferred both and one implanted (our DD).
Different REs have different recommendations about time off after transfer. Mine is a firm believer in 3 days. Last year, I was on strict bedrest the day of (in bed immediately upon returning home, only up to go to bathroom, and no climbing up/down stairs). The next 2 days, I was allowed to lay on the couch with the upper half of my body upright, but not lower half. I know others' REs are far more lax with this. For us, we have DD, so I will follow the same regime this time (including eating pineapple core, drinking grape juice, and munching on yucky walnuts).
Good luck!!!!

Had a 3 day transfer. Embryos were decent but not A quality. We transferred 3 at opinion of RE. We had 3 the made it through so we decided to do it and we got a BFN. Good luck with your decision..
