Nutramigen powder vs. RTF poop
So DS has been on Nutramigen for about 2.5 weeks and for the first 2 weeks he was strictly on powder. We had his stool retested last week and there was no longer blood in it and he did seem more comfortable. His stool went from the seedy yellow from BF to a tan colored pasty stool while on the powder. I knew this to be expected. This week we started using the RTF during the day and powder for the middle of the night feedings and his stool has become like a tan liquid and there's a lot of it...like an explosion in the diaper. I checked the expiration date on the cans, made sure they have been shaken up well before pouring the bottles, and use them within the 48 hour recommendation once the can is opened. He also seems back to be more uncomfortable again. He is a colicky baby to begin with plus has the reflux but the formula did seem to cut back on his screaming episodes for awhile. He still had his usual 8pm episode but now he's also carrying on and inconsolable at 3am and even at other points in the day. I'm not sure what to think anyone else notice a difference in poop between powder and RTF? My insurance covered both and I still have 16 cans of formula left that I have to use but I was planning on asking for the powder with my next delivery if it's the RTF that's causing these changes.

Re: Nutramigen powder vs. RTF poop
Not using nutriamigen but had a similar situation my dd is on enfamil ar powder and her ped gets the rtf samples and was giving them to me when they got them from the rep so I used them for two days and those two days consisted of major gas and explosions in many dirty diapers more than she ever did on the powder so I switched back to powder and all was well again I thought it was soooo weird but I guess the littlest changes in the making of formula can cause differences in the baby's tummy

Nutramigen powder vs. RTF poop
When dd was on the powder she had the explosive poops. I changed her strictly to ready to feed and she was fine.

Re: Nutramigen powder vs. RTF poop
There was def a diff in powder vs rtf for us as well. Although if is really the same stuff with minor exceptions (alimentum rtf does not have corn and powder does) the rtf goes through a diff process. Some babies handle one better over the other. It also takes time getting used to rtf from powder in our experience.

honestly, if i were you i would just either do powder or RTF, and not switch back and forth. see which one your dc tolerates better.
