Suddenly stuttering?

DD#2 is 2.5 years old and out of the blue for the past week she started stuttering. She is very verbal and speaks in sentences.
She didn't have any head injures and my DH is actually more worried than I am about it.

I have a call into the ped., just waiting to hear back.

Has this happened to anyone else? It seems random to me when it happens.

My DD does this on occassion.
Also very verbal.
Sometimes I feel like her brain is thinking too fast to get the words out, kwim?
Like she is going on and on with a story to us and kind of gets tripped up on a word so she stutters a bit.

Same age and my son is doing it too...also very very verbal....his brain is going faster than his mouth...not a few weeks in, he self corrects himself....he will say. Caaaaaaaaaan you come here, instead of stuttering. I used to just tell him to slow down. my oldest did this to, and eventually stopped. I remember being so nervous with him.

My one DC did this, and the ped said it is very normal and to not bring attention to it. She said its bc there thoughts are forming faster than they can get them out. I say within 6-8 weeks it stopped just as suddenly as is started.

My DD has been stuttering a lot lately. She is 3, it started in April. She got a little better for awhile, then started up again.

She gets frustrated, we just tell her to slow down.

Ped said, it can come and go, so not to worry about it yet.

I'm a speech therapist... and this is actually pretty normal for this age. Like other posters said, they're learning so many new words and have so many thoughts going on- its hard for them to figure out how to get them out
My own DS who is almost 3 does it sometimes, too... you can almost see the little wheels spinning in his head while hes thinking of the words
What we look for are other things during the stutter- like ticks, blinking her eyes, shaking her head that kind of thing. And usually we don't really worry too much about it until closer to 6 or 7 years old- because of all the language explostion stuff that's going on when they're younger.
I would just kind of ignore it, let her get through it, don't rush her or tell her to "just TALK!!" or anything like that. That makes them more nervous and makes it worse. Hopefully in a few months when shes even more verbal, it will go away.

DD did this a few months back. Everyone told me her brain was just thinking faster than she could verbalize her thoughts and it would stop. It did.

This also happened to us at this 2-2.5 year old range. My pediatrician said it was totally normal. It was a little scary when it was happening. Literally stopped within a couple of months

It's totally normal. I am an SLP. Don't worry. It's just her language developing so fast.

It should get better in a while.

Look up preschool stuttering. My son did it and still does from time to time if he has a lot to say.

This is very normal for this age group. I wouldn't worry. But talk to the ped anyway.good luck.

That happened to my middle son at that age. His lasted awhile - maybe a month or two on and off. I'd say even to almost 4ish, it would come back and forth out what seemed like no where. Mostly when he entered a new stage in his development. I was so freaked out when it first happened. I remember my DS#1 was receiving speech therapy at the time and his speech therapist always commented on how verbal and articulate DS#2 was and one day I was like listen...she was shocked but she said it can be very normal. The most important she said is let them talk. Don't interrupt them or get them upset bc you don't want regression. It was hard not to just finish sentences and such. Sometimes you just need to slow then down. After this happened a little after 2 - he was at an age where he went from one sentence to multiple sentences. I think his brain was moving faster than his mouth. He is 6 and I never hear it now.
