BTDT Moms: When did you start dialating?
I will be 39 weeks this week and at my drs. Apptmnt (I know internals dont mean a whole lot) but, I got nothing.... 0 dialation. Hoping something gives before my induction date.

My answer is not the one you'll want to hear. I wasn't even 1 cm until I went in for my induction at 41w2d. I'm hoping that I go sooner on my own this time around.

At my 38 week internal no dilation
At 39 weeks he said- MAYBE a fingertip
I had my DD one day before my due date- 5 days after my last appointment.
Got to the hosptial at 4-5 cm
So it can change quickly!

DS #1 at 41 weeks nothing went into labor a few days later
DS 2 at 38 weeks was 1 cm was induced 5 days early (gall bladder)
DC #3 - I'm currently 38 weeks and nothing going on - unless I get an update tonight.

With my 1st DC I was 1cm at my 37 week appt. 2cm at my 39 week appt. I was 5 days late with him and had to be induced.
With my 2nd DC I was 2cm dilated at my 38 week appt. and went into labor on my due date.

I was a fingertip-1cm dilated for my 38 week & 39 week appointment. I went into labor @ 39 weeks, 5 days.

At 38 weeks I was 2cm and I stayed that way until 2 days after my due date when I went to the hospital (5cm when I got there)!

With my dd I was a centimeter dilated at 36 weeks and was still 1cm at my induction at 41 weeks. This time my cervix is still so high my ob can't even tell I I'm dilated!

I never dilated on my own. I was barely fingertip dilated at 10 days past my due date, when I was induced.

I was a fingertip the morning I went into labor. When I got to the hospital 12 hours later I was 3 cm and had contractions 4 min apart.

Never dilated at my own. Went to doc appt at 39w 1d and nothing. The next night my water broke. They inserted cervadil to dilate me.

I had ds at 37.5 weeks. I started to dilate around 34 weeks.

With DD#1 I was dialted from 36 weeks. Didn't go into labor until 40 weeks exactly.

On the flip side, you can also walk around dilated for weeks. With both pregnancies I was 2+cm for quite a while before I had the babies. You just never know, it can go either way. Sadly (or not so sadly, depending on your perspective) dilation/lack of dilation isn't always a good indicator of how close you are to labor.

The most I got to was maybe 2cm by 40w. I was induced at 41w1d and ended up with a C-section the next day.

36 weeks 1cm
37 weeks 2cm
38 weeks 3 cm
39 weeks she was born
with #2
36 weeks 1 cm
37 weeks 2cm
38 weeks went in for check up and found out i was 5 cm and sent straight to hospital. DS was born not even 45 min later. If i didnt have my check up i probably wouldnt have made to the hospital

at 40 weeks 5 days i was not dilated at all
i went into labor around 9pm the next day and when i got to the hospital at midnight i was 5.5 cm - dd arrived at 5am 41weeks

BTDT Moms: When did you start dialating?
I had 36 w check up yesterday. Was 1cm dilated 80% effaced. He said the baby was LOW. Does the baby's position and effacement count for something?

I was not dilated at all when I had my internal at 36 weeks. They didn't both doing an internal at 37 weeks because I was not having contractions and was already scheduled for a c-section. I went into labor 2 days later! It can all happen really quickly.
ETA: And I didn't start feeling contractions until I was 4cm!
