I believe my child is foreign...

I don't know if he speaks the same language as me. Chat Icon
I swear I will ask him a question or talk to him and it's like talking to a wall or he looks at me like I have two heads!

I ask him to clean up his mess. I ask a few more times and then I guess he figures it out and can suddenly understand me when I tell him that the toy will be mine if I have to clean it up. Chat Icon One piece... one piece of a block will get put away. Not the 100 other pieces he dumped. I can tell him the faster he cleans the faster we can go outside and still not understanding me.

I will ask him if he wants a cookie from another room in a low voice and suddenly he speaks English again. Amazing!

4. Oh. He understands but chooses to hear what he wants. Like his dad. Lok

DS is the same. Last week I kept telling him he needed to put his toys away and he kept playing with other stuff, wandering around, telling me about something else. Finally, in a quiet voice I said I had ice cream and his head popped up "I want some of that!!!" Grrrrrr!!! He's 4 too- well, on Thursday he will be. He knows so much more than he likes to let on,Chat Icon Chat Icon

Oh I totally got what you were saying and it is hysterical! I was just trying to get a visual and that's why I asked about his age. Chat Icon
