My 4 yr old wakes up!
How do I keep him asleep? I swear it's clockwork he gets up in the middle of the night the same time. He feels fine and just gets sad. I have taken away "big boy" toys, I do a sticker chart, bribe with toys, but still wakes. He goes to sleep fine. He can go to sleep at 8PM or midnight and still get up at the same time. I go in and it's just he needs a hug, has to go bathroom, etc. I have let him cry, but it gets worse and worse and I don't want him to wake him brother. His 2 yr old brother sleeps better. There are times he sleeps in his bed all night and we get stickers and praises for that. I feel like it's been like this for about a year. I started letting him come to our room and he gets a blanket on the floor and will sleep till 8:30 then. I don't get it. I know it's a lonely feeling he has to just deal, but I hate the fact that he will just scream and be sad or wake his brother in the next room. I let him come to our room so I can sleep and he passes right out. I have tried picking him up and taking him back and he gets up and cries. Need some advise. I feel like I try everything

My 4 yr old wakes up!
AJ did that. I just went with it. She has a full size bed so I'd sleep with her then sneak out. I made a rule to myself to NEVER be in there when she woke up. She refuses to come to our room to sleep.
Before the full size bed, we'd sleep on her floor.
Franky I didn't care. Sleep is VERY important to us. Hers and ours. I dont care where I sleep, I just need sleep. On the couch, in a chair on a pillow, on her bed on piled up comforters.. just give me sleep!
Ironically, this past weekend I slept with her because she was cranky and I wasn't feeling 100% and didn't move. She woke up in the middle of the night "Mama!" sitting straight up. I replied "what!" and she got scared so I followed up with "Im right here, did you forget?" and giggled at her and she laughed a bit but I think at first it scared her. Funny thing is since then she doesn't wake up. I think she just figures I'm there. LOL. Most nights though she'd wake up and we'd have to go in there and wait until she fell asleep then leave.
I don't worry since she hates our room, so I figure that was half the battle. She won't even NAP on our bed. LOL from co-sleeper to only using our bed as a trampoline by 2yrs!

The good part is he doesn't leave his bed and he's in a full size. He does love it and usually goes to sleep well. It's just the middle of the night so I have been putting down a down comforter on the rug then he goes on top with a smaller blanket and pillow. He's got an awesome room too.

Re: My 4 yr old wakes up!
My DD is almost 5 and the same thing. Every night at like 3am she wakes up. Its very frustrating. She usually cries unitl my DH or myself get her and bring her into out bed. Sometimes I feel its easier to just have her start out in our bed so we don't have to get up but then I have her in my back all night. I'm hoping that she will grow out of this one day and be able to sleep in her own room for the entire night.
Sorry no advice just sympathy that I am going through the same thing!

Yup, it's about 2:30AM he gets up too. Funny. I thought the same thing about just letting him sleep, but bc he goes to sleep early and well I just deal with waking at night to get him.
