What do you need for baby in hospital?
What do you need for the baby in the hospital? Onesies for the 2 days? Diapers? Or are they just in their diapers and blanket the whole time?? Sorry it's probably a stupid question.

The hospital gives you everything you need for the baby while you are there (and you can take it all home!). They provide diapers, wipes (some only give dry wipes that you need to wet), ointment, side snap shirts and blankets. I did bring my own clothes for both of my DDs to wear for when we had visitors. All you need to bring is a take home outfit.

You literally need nothing. They cloth, diaper and provide formula if you're going that route.

What do you need for baby in hospital?
Nothing for the actual stay; just a going home outfit and may I suggest getting a couple of different sizes. I had DD on Friday and bought NB size clothes. She is exactly 5lbs and her outfit is too big. My stepmom is at Carters as we speak picking up Preemie size clothes. Thank God she needs a few extra days here(not going home until Wednesday 35 weeker). So that gives her time to pick up all the stuff she's going to need.

Bring a nursing pillow (boppy, my breast friend, etc) if you plan to BF. And going home outfit. But you really don't need anything else for baby.

And yes, take everything home...
Ask for an extra bottle of 'the spray' while you're there too.

Spray is for your whohaa...they don't put onesies on the babies just long sleeve t shirts with swaddled receiving blanket. If your formula feeding ask for extra formula to bring home they have me a huge brown bag full of the little rtf bottles.

It's an anesthetic spray and it will be your new best friend. Make sure you ask for an extra water bottle, too (bathroom time is impossible without it). I had one in our bathroom and kept one in my purse for when we were out (ugh, the memories). Ohh, and you'll want to take as much mesh underwear from the hospital as you can. And make sure you have plenty of extra long, super thick maxi pads or Depends in the house.
Lol because this thread started out about onesies.

Re: What do you need for baby in hospital?
The hospital provides almost everything for the baby, as the PPs have said. You'll want to bring the baby's take home outfit.
You might also want little mittens for the baby since they tend to scratch themselves. And we also brought a little nail file since the baby's nails are surprisingly long when they are first born!

the mittens didnt work for us so we used the side snap onesies that had the sleeve fold over.
The nurses at LIJ told me i could take anything but the linens... as if i wanted hospital sheets lol

Ahh, the spray. A must have if you have a vaginal birth. I recently moved and found the extra can I took from the hospital.
I delivered at southside and they did not use wipes, but used the dry cloths you wet. I continued doing that at home for a couple of weeks.
A friend told DH to bring a bag home full of free hospital stuff each night. Take whatever you can from the hospital, it is good to have extras.
