Diet before 3 hour

I'm taking the 3 hour on Wednesday. When the Dr. gave me the Rx for the test, he also handed me a paper saying that I need to eat 300g of carbs every day for 3 days. No one I know has had to do this. Did anyone here have to do it? The dr. didn't say anything, he just handed it to me with the Rx.

Never heard of that. Then again, I didn't take 3 hour, just the 1 hour. My doctor didn't even give me instructions for the 1 hour.

You're supposed to eat a granola or candy bar to make sure you have enough carbs in your system. I skipped the bar and ate good carbs, like whole wheat bread or pasta- and passed.

I failed the 1 hour with both pregnancies, and passed the 3 hour!

I think eating that many carbs would make your blood sugar skyrocket if you did have GD. So maybe your doc wants to be sure they diagnose you correctly?

You shouldnt have to do that at all if you have GD. you either have it or you dont, i have take then 3 hour twice, and failed it twice, and never had to do anything different. eat whatever you normally eat.

Nope. My doc said, "a lot of people are told to fast before the test. Don't. If they ask you if you did just say yes".

We use to give out the instructions when patients checked out and I don't recall that at all!
