whooping cough vaccine
I had DD at the ped last week and DH asked about the whooping cough vaccine for adults. (We both got it when DD was born). So DH wanted to know if he needed it again since he is a teacher. Ped said that it is good for 10 years in adults, unless you are PG, no matter when you had the vaccine last you should get it again while you are still PG. Just wanted to see if anyone else heard this? He said that it is a new recomendation this year.

I've never heard that. Did he provide an explanation? I'll ask the doctors I work for on Tuesday what they think. Otherwise, I had mine last year, and DH had one this year. Seems good enough for me!

Re: whooping cough vaccine
yes i just got it last week my OB recommends you get it before the baby is born b/c the baby will create antibodies in utero to protect against pertussis. My DH got it, my mom, and my dad. Anyone that is going to handling the baby should be getting it.

Re: whooping cough vaccine
I was never told that...only the flu shot. But if it lasts for 10 years, and I just had it 2 years ago when DD was born, I wonder if its safe to get again so soon, KWIM?

from what i red on the cdc website, is not harm to the baby or you, just the usually vaccine issues, redness to injection site, tenderness, in some cases but rare low grade fever.
