Finger prick test v. prenatal bloodwork
Is the finger prick test the same as the prenatal panel that you get through a needle? I'm confused because my script says prenatal and genetic testing. I had genetic testing done at my RE before we conceived and that was.normal. I don't want to end up with a massive insurance bill due to the fact that genetic.testing for the mother was done already & ins prob won't pay for it again.
My 12 week ultrascreen was normal and.waiting for results of finger prick.
Thanks ladies.

Hmm...I would probably call and ask the office. I had bloodwork done at the beginning that included the testing to SMA, CF and something else. The finger prick was done in the office when I had my NT scan.

Re: Finger prick test v. prenatal bloodwork
the finger prick goes with the ultrascreening, and that is genetic testing, the prenatal bloodwork is the one where they take the vials of blood that was a basic panel testing for CF, SMA, CMV, Syphyllis , CBC Blood type, clotting factors the ultra screen tests for downs, tri 13 and 18, if you had those done by your Re i dont know why you would have to test again. i would call and double check what you were tested for at your Re

Then the only thing that should be checked off on my lab script is prenatal?? Had the finger prick last Mon.
My RE only tested my beta levels bc I was only there til 8 weeks. Genetic bloodwork for ME was done last October so I didn't want my OB redoing that. That's test was $$$$

Re: Finger prick test v. prenatal bloodwork
well if you had all that other stuff done then you shouldnt need it again, you will probably need the CBC, coags, and blood type, but if you were already tested for alot of things then their should be non need. call you RE.

Your RE should have released you with all your recent bloodwork. The OB looks at it and that will determine what panels are needed.

I'd also double check with your insurance and the lab. The nt fingertip blood work and prenatal testing at 6w didn't cost anything out of pocket aside from the copay. Every insurance is diff but mine isn't the greatest at times. I gave Aetna.
