The stupid things people say
So I was walking into work yesterday morning and actually thinking about the posts I've seen here time and time again where people approach a lot of you ladies in the street and make comments that seem totally rude and inapprorpiate. I actually thought to myself, I''m glad I haven't had experiences like that.' and 'Where are they finding these people?'
Fast forward to lunchtime (same day) where the pizza guy sees me and asks when I'm due. When I say November 14, he's like "You look like you're about to pop any minute!!!" I laughed it off and was like, 'Well that's not exactly something I want to hear..." but then of course I get all self-conscious like am I really that big???
Nevermind that on top of all this, I just happened to notice yesterday, when I was riding the LIRR in, how much people just stare at me... I'm pregnant people! I don't have horns growing out of my @$$!!!

Just playing devil's advocate here - maybe they are admiring you. I know before I was PG (and even know since I'm still so early on) pregnant ladies always caught my eye and I thought how blessed they were/are.

Yes! I was thinking the same thing. I would always stare at pregnant women because I thought they looked so beautiful. Hope they didnt think I was being creepy lol

to the OP - I totally feel the same way. whether people are admiring, gawking or otherwise, I sometimes feel like a side show that people can't look away from. I relate to feeling self conscious about it.

Re: The stupid things people say
We were at a party and some woman I have never met before asked me how far along I was. I told her 10 weeks (I showed early because of the twins...which we ended up losing one of the twins a week ago). After I said I was ten weeks...her response was (and YES SHE REALLY SAID THIS) "Oh I thought you were due ANY DAY!!!"
Are you freaking kidding me? Nothing like a HUGE blow to my self esteem and made me feel like a fat cow!
My response to her was "I knew I showed a little early...Didn't realize I was such a house."
You could tell by her face she felt like a jerk, and rightfully so. People should learn to just shut their mouths!

Re: The stupid things people say
None of us can win either way - I'm carrying on the small side, have been since the beginning. DS measures fine - should be eight pounds when born. A good size! Just today, and this happens constantly, I get the 'oh your nine months?!!' And then you'd think they'd say oh you look good... No, they say 'is everything alright?' Or 'is the baby a normal size?' Or 'will he be born small?'
It's like before I was pregnant, I would have loved the idea of carrying small but now that it's the case, it's not fun at all. But then, if I carried completely normal people would say stupid things too! We really can't win! Why people can't just be nice and positive I'll never understand!

I totally agree. Even now I catch myself staring at women who are pregnant and I'm reminiscing about when I was pg with DS. Or I'm thinking about the cute thing he did this morning. I'm not staring at the person b/c she's pregnant but more so because I know how lucky she is to be pg.

OMG I used to get this all the time! ALL the time! People would say- are you sure you are eating enough? Is everything ok? You need to eat more. Ummm no- I am eating just fine- I am just carrying small and trust me, my Dr's are not concerned. DD was born at a very average 7 pounds- healthy as can be. You know what I realize-you can't win when it comes to being pregnant- you are either carrying too big, too small, your face is changing, your face isn't changing enough, you @ss is too big, your @ss is too flat. it's like everyone thinks it's a free pass to say any and all nasty, rude, coothless $hit they would NEVER say to a non pregnant woman. It's like the rules go out the window!

Omg; I know how you feel! Woman in general suck; they don't think before they speak! I've learned to ignore as ive had my share Of rude Comments said to me! If baby is healthy and so are You and your Dr. Has no concerns then who cares what everyone says! If they don't understand you growing a human inside of you then that's there problem! enjoy every moment and try not To let It bother you!!! Good luck with baby :)
