Disney and car rentals

Is it worth renting a car if you're staying in a Disney (moderate) resort?

I would say so since there a zillion internal bus stops at the moderate resorts. It's a pain to drive to the MK though, so I would endure all those stops for that particular park.

Depends on the resort. CSR and CBR are both very spread out. We had one for POR and felt it was a waste. We took the bus to MK bc you don't want to drive to the MK. We did not take it to the others but the buses were coming nicely. If you rent you miss out on ME which made it so easy. CBR for example has an internal shuttle you might need to take dependant on your room. POFQ only has 7 buildings. Their buses are very easy.

Yes. I HATE the busses, and it is generally quicker if you drive yourself. I don't drive to the Magic Kingdom, though.

I would say it depends on what your planning to do while on Vacation.

Disney provides transportation throughout the Parks for Resort Guests and you can even use Disney's FREE Magical Express from the airport to Disney. We use their services every vacation and have had no issues.

However, if you plan on venturing outside Disney than to me it would make sense to maybe rent a car for a few days.

Wow, you have had NO issues using the buses? I find that very hard to believe.

Of-course there is always a wait time...but other than having to wait I honestly have had no issues.

It's just surprising, since I haven't ever heard of anyone who goes regularly who hasn't ever had at least one issue with the busses. Though the wait is one reason why we prefer to drive.

We stayed at All Star Movies this past April and the bus service was awful, especially to the MK. We would wait and wait and wait early in the morning, while other buses came and went more than once for the other parks. I actually complained when I came home about it (and several other things), and was compensated, which I really wasn't expecting.

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge last December, and took the boat to the MK, loved it! Hardly ever waited for a bus, BUT it took forever to get anywhere with the stops at the other resorts.

Re: Disney and car rentals

We always rent a car. Last time we were on the monorail and our next trip we are a boat ride from magic kingdom but we still rent a car. Hate the idea of waiting for a bus and having the possibility of it being delayed or full. Don't know what i'd do if it started raining and we were just standing waiting for a bus.
