Newsroom [spoilers] 8/25 I'm confused
The switching back and forth in time thing is screwing me all up. Basically Maggie's hair changes are taunting me.
They're showing the short red hair Maggie in with the lawyers about Genoa which leads you to believe that was the past. I assumed that's what she looked like right after she got back from Africa as part of her downward spiral, and then she got better, grew her hair and let it go natural blond again, but now has a drinking problem. And that the "present" is that Jim is with that reporter chick now.
But then that means that Genoa was way in the past and it seems like everyone is fine, their jobs are fine, and no one got fired except d0ucheb@g Jerry.
Am I right? I don't know why I used to be stuck on the idea that Genoa was current/present because that makes for a more tense storyline - will they get fired? What's the fallout? But its like they're cheating you by showing you that everyone is fine.

Genoa and the trip to Africa happened in 2012 I believe. Right after they reported Genoa, the story about Benghazi broke (Sept 2012). The depositions with the lawyers is about 7 months after the Genoa story aired. They showed Maggie cutting her hair but they haven't incorporated that story into the timeline yet (as in she leaves work one day with blonde hair and returns the next day with short red hair and everyone is aski g about it, KWIM.?)

That is the problem right there - I assumed that the haircutting was right after she got back from Africa. Ok that makes a lot of sense now!
I do like the lawyer thing but it aggravated me that we didn't know why they were there for like 4 episodes lol
And Leona, was she stoned? Because that was NOT the reaction I was expecting.

The trip to Africa happened before Genoa broke. That is why the lawyer was asking her state of mind because she was no all there as they were preparing the interviews, etc. She did not cut her hair yet in the timeline they are showing. Her hair is cut in present day, I'm guessing about 6 to 12 months later.
I'm assuming they are going to show what happened after they retracted the story and what happened with the government. I'm venturing to guess that they are "getting away" with the false story because they can prove Jerry manipulated the footage and that that government dude had it out for them with the fake manifest.

I wasn't expecting that reaction either!
I don't think she was stoned... maybe a bit tipsy coming from that dinner...
but I also think she's a very strong 'big wig' who's pissed off this 'little f'er' is trying to mess with her & her company - so there's no way she'd let him win by accepting their resignations...
