At what fever temperature do you call the dr?

DS has had a stuffy nose since yesterday (friday).I gave him tylenol around 9 and he woke up about 1/2 hour ago very hot and with a rectal temp of 101.2. I just gave him more tylenol. How long will it take for the tylenol to take effect and at what temp do you call the dr?

How old is your DC? 101 is not a high temp but my ped says it is more about how they act than the temp. I would not call for 101 unless there were other symptoms that were cause for alarm. Motrin works better than tylenol if your DC is old enough for it.

He is 10months. I don't have motrin in the house but the tylenol actually did the trick. He wasn't acting lethargic but he's never had a fever that high so it made me nervous.

my ped used to say to call him at 102, at that point it cane be bacterial and he'd want to do a culture asap.

I wouldn't call the pediatrician until its reached around 102. And if my ds behaved normal and seemed comfortable, I would usually give any medication at around 101. However, do whatever eases your mind.
