Potty training during major changes

Dd is about to be 16 mos so I've been thinking about how and when we'll be potty training. She's obviously not ready yet. We just bought a house but have a lot of renovating to do before we can move. Move in could be anywhere between November and February. I'm due with #2 in early April. I was hoping to have her out of diapers before the new baby arrives but I'm worried it will be too stressful for her. Any advice on the schedule? Is it totally out of the question to have her trained by April?

Re: Potty training during major changes

Its not out of the question... But there can be regression... My son was trained 2 times (pee only) and then he got really sick and regressed both times!!! He was a 2.5 y/o and then almost 3 years old.. The 3rd time he regressed he was 3 and then we moved!!!! Thankfully that time didn't take so long... Any new big change can cause regression but it doesn't happen with every child.. I started DS on the potty around 2. He knew what it was but had no interest yet. Once it peaked his interest, he got the hang of it fast... I would wait until she starts to show some interest in it. If she isn't ready, it will be so much harder to train... Good luck..

Potty training during major changes

DD wakes dry typically and is very verbal so I'm considering attempting to train her around 18 months.

I got her a potty and read some suggestions on how to start. For now, I have her sit on her potty (clothed or unclothed) to get used to it. I also read to point out when they're going to keep it a social event. LO's that hide in a corner will be hardest to train since they won't want to go with you hovering over them. When I see the look I pick up DD and sit her on the potty. She's still clothed but it is helping her understand the point of the potty and getting her used to going sitting down. She just turned 16 months and will now tell me "poop" right when she's starting to go. Just some ideas if you want to get her ready to train now. Then maybe see if you think she's ready before April. If she is, great. If not then I wouldn't stress about it and just wait till after.
