Excited to be a BIG sister!!!

Re: introducing concept of sibling - at what point in your 2nd pregnancy

I was pregnant back in the fall and told my DD the big news 5 days after seeing the heartbeat on the sonogram. She was SO excited!!! She's 5. PS - shortly after at 10 weeks 2days I miscarried. I had to break the bad news to her and she was devastated!!!! It was heartbreaking! She was crying and saying that "now the baby has no family? I'm not going to be a big sister?" etc.. I ended it getting pregnant once again a couple of months later and decided that this time I was going to be much further along before I told her. We waited until a lot of the testing was done and told her at 20 weeks.

Congratulations! And when ever you decide to tell your LO, I'm sure it will be great!

We told my 3 and 4 year old very very early...pretty much as soon as we found out. But, we told them we were trying to grow a baby in my belly, not that there was one. My 4 yr old picked up on it. We have wine with dinner every night and she loved picking out the bottle. She kept asking why I wouldn't have wine, so we said we are trying to grow another baby and babies can't have wine. Lol. But both my girls had been pushing for another baby so it wasn't out of the blue to them.

We told dd right away. I don't think she fully understood until recently.... An even now I'm not sure she gets that we will have a baby in the house in a few weeks.
