Second opinion in Suffolk county?
I think LIIVF is the only RE out here besides RSoNY right? Do I go for the post IVF consult at RSoNY or just go directly to second opinion? How long do you think it will take to get med records? Will LIIVF see me without them for a consult? Will I have to do all my testing again? (hysterosalpingogram, water sono, endometrial biopsy) Any recommendations for RE in Suffolk County? Anyone finance IVF through their RE?

Re: Second opinion in Suffolk county?
I would go for the post consult but it really couldn't hurt to get a 2nd opinion if you can. I went for a diff consult and they still saw me even though I didn't have all of my records. I am sure though they will eventually want everything sent over. I am no help with RE's in suffolk county but if you're willing to travel to eastern nassau I know some ladies on here have had recommendations for RE's in that area. Good luck and I wish you the very best!

Second opinion in Suffolk county?
My friend was at RS of NY and switched. She filled out a records request with front desk. It took about a week and. Half to two weeks and in meantime she set up second option appt. she got the records- she had to pay for them but she said it wasn't too much. She did bring them with her on new new dr consult.

Re: Second opinion in Suffolk county?
A second opinion is definitely valuable. It would be a good idea to provide them with your records as well so they can provide you with the best plan of action. For me, my records could not definitively determine why our 2 IVF cycles failed, but my RE did provide us with 3-4 reasons why it might have.
I also think it is important that you do go for a post-consult. I will give a place two chances, after that I would go elsewhere. My old RE wanted to do literally the same exact procedure AGAIN - was this guy serious?

Re: Second opinion in Suffolk county?
Dr. Gabriel San Roman (NSUH) is also in Suffolk. Currently in Hauppauge but moving to a brand new facility in Smithtown next week. I know everyone has a diff experience but I have to say he has been amazing for me. Yes, I'm PG now so easy for me to say but I even said it when I had one failed cycle with him. He was more upset about the failure than I was and was very open to hearing what I had to say and tweaking things based on my argument that I know my body. I was supposed to be released yesterday but he said he wants to see me again next week - his exact statement 'we've come too far for me to not see this through'. He is vested in my case...and I'm sure in others too.
I went to LIIVF previously and did not see them as being much diff than RSofNY - I felt like just another number. But again, everyone has a diff exp.

Re: Second opinion in Suffolk county?
RS told me it will take a month! So I went anyway to a new consult without any new BW, just the initial that I happened to have copies of and my HSG report from zwanger was needed. He still gave me a great consult. Just write down all protocol that you have already gone through, any info you can get. It never hurts to get a second opinion. I think it's important to have a fresh opinion on your case. I know San Roman is in Suffolk and girls love him. He was too far out for me to consult with but I heard great things. Good luck and even if you find a RE that is a small distance, it may be worth it still. My new RE is all the way in syosset which is a lot further than mineola but he is worth it so far so I'm giving it a try.

Second opinion in Suffolk county?
I switched from RS to LIIVF and brought all of my records , it took about 2 weeks from when i sent a release form. I did not have to redo any of my tests outside of new blood work... I was dreading having to retake them again ... I am very happy with LIVF. Good Luck!!

Re: Second opinion in Suffolk county?
If you're paying OOP and you're not sure how many more cycles you can swing, it may be worth it to talk to a few doctors before you proceed; and as long as you're just talking, you may want to look outside of Suffolk county to see if you can gather some ideas about how to improve stimulation since you only got 3 embryos with that IVF cycle. You can always bring those protocols back to a local doctor to see if they're willing to try it.
FM me if you're interested and I can pull together a list of names for you to think about, but yes, you should definitely bring your records. It's super important for designing an individualized protocol. They won't usually repeat testing unless it's (1) out of date or (2) not trustworthy. But a new doc may have other tests they like to see done, so be prepared for that.
The other thing you want to consider, especially when eggs are the issue, is that the lab is first and foremost. The best way to gauge that when you're picking a new doc is to look at SART data. Some of that is skewed by clinics that cherry-pick their patients, but if you scroll down to the outcomes for donor egg cycles, you can see how different labs perform when everyone's dealing with fertile, 25 year-old girls.
GL with everything!

Re: Second opinion in Suffolk county?
Thank you everyone. I did make a post IVF consult with Dr Lydic Aug 29, and I also made a second opinion apmnt with Dr Brenner @ LI IVF Sept 10. He is in Melville and I would go to Stony Brook, but I just want to see what he says since his patients have great things to say about him. I'm also thinking about sending a letter to my insurance co BEGGING them to pay for one cycle of IVF. Would make sense instead of wasting money on more IUIs, not to mention the antipsych meds they are going to have to put me on, and the therapists, and the blood pressure meds, and the anxiety meds.... (kidding btw)

Second opinion in Suffolk county?
Traveling for a consult is not a bad idea if a new doctor will give you the answers you are looking for. I traveled 200+ miles for this round of IVF so I could go to a better clinic. In the past, our embryos were graded at Cs and Ds. This time we were able to get a 4 AA and 3 BA. I think the lab is VERY important!

How many IVF cycles did you do? If is only 1 a lot of people who have done IVF and have eventually gotten BFP will tell you the first cycle is a trial and error. Not everyone gets pregnant on the first shot.
We all want it to happen first time, and in a perfect world it would.

Second opinion in Suffolk county?
It was my first but the issue is I don't have IVF coverage and I depleted 401k and savings to pay for it so I don't have many options left.

I don't remember where you said you were going, but I know that there is a NYS Dept of Health grant, where if you make combined under $195K annual and your insurance doesn't cover it, you can qualify. this is the link to the information with Long Island IVF: http://www.longislandivf.com/doh_ivf_grant.cfm and through NYS DOH website: http://www.health.ny.gov/community/reproductive_health/infertility/

Thank you:) RSONY does participate. It's on a sliding scale, and has to be first IVF attempt. I did receive some assistance with it for the first but it doesn't pay for the whole thing and they are very selective in who they give it to. They didn't want to give me anything bc of my low amh. Unfortunately I can't get nys grant assistance again :( Hoping there's something liivf will find or do differently. I believe there is a third party loan program they participate in also that I'm going to inquire in as well.

Glad you made a post IVF consult and second opinion appt. as far as insurance did you say you only had one tube ? That was the big factor of me being approved for IVF right away was they wrote it up as a tubal issue. No matter how many IUIs you do, chances are slimmer with only one tube. Good luck w everything and keep me posted!!
