High risk pregnancy and anesthesiology consult...anyone do this?
I am high risk because I have a cardiac history and high blood pressure, so my OB is sending me for a consult with the anesthesiologist. I'm going today. I have been so busy I haven't really thought about it at all - did anyone do this? If so, what can I expect from the appointment?

I haven't gone yet, but my ob told me I was going to have to do the same thing. I was wondering how that will work!

I believe it was more because of my cardiac history. I had open heart surgery as a young child and my OB wanted the anesthesiologist to discuss with me what my options are and make sure I am a good candidate for whatever they need to do. Also, it is preferable for them to know my medical history in advance in case of an emergency or something happening too fast to access my records.

Re: High risk pregnancy and anesthesiology consult...anyone do this?
I had a phone consult with the head of anesthesiology as my only prior experience with it I felt an entire procedure (not fun) and could not talk at the same time. It was when I was crying during the procedure that they figured out something was going wrong. So not fun. We spoke about everything and my medical history. My c/section(s) were fine and I could not feel it. I was awake the entire time for both c/s.
