Can I mix metals?

I have this dress and I want to wear a nice chunky gold necklace with it and mayabe a similar bracelet.
Problem is I have ONE watch and it's a silver/stainless band.
Will I look ridiculous?

Re: Can I mix metals?

Ohhh I toil over mixing metals. I used to change my purse daily if the hardware didnt match! I'm the girl who bought a fake yellow gold wedding band set b/c I dont like wearing my real one if I have on yellow gold jewelry!

But I think lately mixing metals is ok. To make myself feel a little better about it, I bought a bracelet that is a multi chain bracelet - it has silver, gold, pewter, copper and black. I feel like when I wear that its like a bridge that allows me to mix.

Clearly I have some hangups.Chat Icon

No! I do it all the time! You can wear your chunky gold necklace & silver watch & I may even add a chunky gold bracelet to stack with the watch to add more gold.

I know i was thinking of that but I am LOST without my watch!
If I forgot to wear it I feel naked all day.
I have a clock on my laptop, my cell phone, my desk phone- yet I am always looking at my watch!

Normally I wouldn't think twice but I feel like chunky gold necklace chunky gold bracelet- chunky SILVER watch- I don't know why it just seemed off.

I guess I'm overthinking it!

Re: Can I mix metals?

Funny- I was in Kohl's this morning looking at their costume jewelry and they were selling these bangle bracelet sets- like 5 or 6 bangles bundled together- and they were all mixed metals.

Gold, silver, pewter, etc.

I guess it's the trend right now.

That's good because I wasn't doing it to be trendy- I was doing it because I have ONE watch!
But hey if it makes me on trend- then awesome! Chat Icon

I feel the same way. I probably wouldn't wear the watch. If it's rings or earrings it wouldn't bother me so much.

Can I mix metals?

I think it used to be a *gasp* fashion NO-NO but now it's fine. I do it all the time and it looks great. Go for it!

By the way, where is that dress from? I love it.

Believe it or not- TARGET!
I am really loving their clothes lately.
I have another dress I bought there this summer that I can more compliments on than my pricey designer stuff from Bloomies.
Go figure!
