need some opinions - 1 or 2
When i did my first fresh cycle, they ended up putting back 1 embie; the plan was one or two. The quality was supposidly really good, so they opted for 1. That cycle failed.
The next 2 FET, i opted for 1 as well. the 2nd ended in a chemical pregnancy.
We are doing a fresh cycle again. I am VERY conflicted about how many to put back. I am SO scared of twins for health reasons (both myself and the babies) and especially for the financial aspect of it - it would really impact our quality of life any DH would have to get a 2nd job just for us to live. And we already have a DD, so i think that changes things a bit too.
Being we've had 3 failed IVF cycles, i'm thinking the chances of BOTH embies implanting and making it are slim, but it's still a good possibility, so...i need some thoughts here...
We are also thinking about doing PGD, not sure how that impacts success rates. I would think it does...or it should for how much it costs!! lol
would anyone mind sharing their thought process on this?
This fresh cycle is my last one covered by insurance.
TIA

I personally would do 2. Talk to your doctor and do what you feel comfortable with.

It depends on your insurance coverage if you have good coverage I would do 1. If you are paying oop or you are paying a high premium I would go for 2

I don't know- if you really aren't okay with two, is it worth it to put back two? What stresses you out more... The thought of twins or the thought of paying for a cycle out of pocket if this doesn't work?

I would do 2. I feel like if it ups your chances of 1 sticking go for it. However, I am not scared of twins. If I had twins I would never have to go through all this again. Age also plays a factor. Some REs rec putting back 2 after 35. Good luck.

I would (and have) put back at least 2 for our 3 cycles. I guess I am somewhat nervous about twins, but would prefer that to the alternative of having none stick.
The embryologist.RE recommended I put 2 in this time and I took their advice.

I should also add that we already have a DD...i think that makes a difference for me as well. If i didnt, i dont think i would care as much, but with a 3.5 yr old running around, it's a little different i feel.

I know what you're going through. Mine wasn't even a question of 1. Its was between 2 or 3 . I'm almost 40 no kids and the three were decent quality but not excellent quality embryos. We decided to put back all three and none took.

Re: need some opinions - 1 or 2
I completely understand your fear of multiples. I had the same fear. I did not do IVF, I did IUI's which can be pretty unpredictable. Given the choice back then I would have said 1. I have a son already, there were scary health concerns, and of course finances. I was VERY overwhelmed when I found out I was having 2.
Being able to look back at the experience. I would say 2. It was not nearly as bad as I feared. You should up your chances..and if you are blessed with two..YES, you will be overwhelmed, but will be surprised at just how much you love them, and how it will all work out Good luck!
