Need a Fall Mini-moon suggestion - VT, ME, NH, Poconos??
FH and I are getting married in September and unfortunately we've run into some things that are causing us to delay our honeymoon possibly up to a year. In the meantime, we'd like to take a 4 or 5 day mini-moon after the wedding to just get away. We were thinking maybe renting a nice cabin or small house somewhere in like late October or early November. We want something super romantic (think fireplace, hot tub, secluded but still close to a town with bars, restaurants, etc.), lots of foliage, wineries, apple picking, etc.
We thought maybe Vermont, Poconos, upstate NY, Maine...but honestly neither of us are very familiar with towns in those areas. Any ideas of places that might be a good fit for this trip? We'd even be open to a resort that rents cottages or ski houses maybe. We also Love B&B's, but for this occasion we'd prefer one that had cottages or detached rooms.

Its not a separate cottage, but I love the Equinox Inn in Manchester VT. (Its a small hotel with an upscale B&B feel). They have a spa, nice restuarant and bar right there, plus its in a beautiful location, with a cute little town. Part of the Equinox is called the Charles Orivs Inn - its a separate building/house next door, that has a delux suite withjacuzzi. I've never stayed at the Orvis Inn, but I LOVE The Equinox.

why don't you look into homeaway.com? We rented an awesome cottage through them last year, though it is probably too rustic for a honeymoon. They have tons of things in eveyr price point.

I would check out vrbo.com-I've had a lot of luck there
As for towns, Ludlow, VT is beautiful Acadia park in Maine
I would rather go to VT or ME than the Poconos though

The omni at bretton woods in nh is gorgeous.
We also just stayed at the samoset in rock port maine. It's a sister property of the sagamore in lake George.
