BTDT moms who delivered at NS Manhasset recently (since renovation)
I did the class and tour today but upon coming home and discussing it DH and I realized we were a bit confused. The only labor room available to show us was the big one that was also a recovery room. But I think we were told that usually you are taken elsewhere to recover? And then again later to your actual room? Is this the case? So all told you are in 3 rooms?
Also - I believe the instructor said the baby stays with you initially for about an hour, then is taken to the nursery for a couple hours to be bathed and examined?
Can someone, if you don't mind, explain to me how the process worked once you had delivered until you got to your room with the baby?
Thanks!

I had a c section so I was in a l &d room, then surgical room. I held the baby right after the section. Then they had my husband take the baby while they finished with me. Then I got the baby back and had him in the recovery room for a while. Then they take the baby to the nursery for about 3 hours. In that time you go to your actual room and they bring the baby to you there.

I was in one room and Labored there an delivered as well. The baby was there with us for about an hour or so. Then they brought the baby to the nursery to be measured, weighed etc. my husband went up with the baby (I told him to). I was in my room shortly after. Then about an hour or so after they brought the baby to me in my room and he pretty much never left from then. This was 5 months ago so I'm sure it's still the same

I had a c/s.
I initially labored in the LD room, then went to surgery. After I went into a general recovery room for a few hours until finally going to the private room.

Me too! First, I was in a l&d room for 18 hours. It was a small, quiet room with no window. I had a TV and room for my dh. I felt very comfortable there. Second, emergency c-section. So, I was wheeled into a surgical room. Third, recovery room. The baby did not go there. I had a fever, so I was there about 5 hours. Fourth, private room. It was amazing, like a hotel in Miami. I ended up there for 5 days! Food was amazing too! You will love it.

Had a csection there prior I renovations but they are just like Winthrop when I worked in L&D.
I labored in a L&D room, had to have an emergency csection so I was moved to a surgical room(DS went to NICU;was born at 35 weeks),then I was in a recovery room with a few other women before being moved to a postpartum room.
I was there for 5 days.

You definitely labor, deliver and recover in the same room. The baby will be with you about an hour initially and then brought back a little later. You are moved to a room.

it is not always true that you labor, deliver and recover in the same room. i had DD#2 there in july and i labored and delivered in one room, and then because they were busy that night and needed the room, they wheeled me to another recovery room. it was me and another lady and a nurse. then a few hours after that i was wheeled to the hospital room where i stayed for two days.

I gave birth the in February. I labored in a tiny room, the baby stayed with me for an hour and then the baby was brought to the nursery for four hours. They brought me to another room ( beautiful and private now) whe I spent the rest of my time there.

That must be for a vaginal birth.

Re: BTDT moms who delivered at NS Manhasset recently (since renovation)
It all depends upon how busy they are and what rooms are available....I was induced but the morning I got there they were packed...so after waiting for two hours they finall put me in a room with 4 others until a labor/delivery room was available...when I got moved to one then I was there for for labor, delivery and recovery then went to another room on the maternity floor

BTDT moms who delivered at NS Manhasset recently (since renovation)
I had vaginal... Labored and delivered in one room (TV and recliner for DH... My family could pop in like 1-2 ppl at a time).... After delivery baby stayed for about 45mins to 1 hr and my whole family from waiting room could come in.... Then we wheeled to a recovery room divided by curtains (only heard one other woman in there recovering from a c/s) then was wheeled to my room after I could feel my legs and stand. Then private room for 2 days. So 3 rooms for me!

I labored mostly in the triage room, then was put in a L&D room when I asked for the epi. DD was born about an hour and a half later. They let me keep her for about an hour and a half and then they took her for testing. In the interim, I was moved to a recovery room.

Re: BTDT moms who delivered at NS Manhasset recently (since renovation)
I started in one room, it was public but there are curtains making it private. There were about 6 beds. then when they were ready for my C/S I was taken to surgery room and then I was taken to a recovery room (many beds lined up in a row) and then finally taken to my own room.

Re: BTDT moms who delivered at NS Manhasset recently (since renovation)
it all depends on how busy they are. First you go to triage (multiple beds with curtains seperating them) to get assessed and then they put you into a labor and delivery room ( length of stay in triage depends on each person). After baby was born, she was with us for an hour or so and then taken to the nursery. There was no room in "recovery" so I stayed in my room and went to the private room from there.

Re: BTDT moms who delivered at NS Manhasset recently (since renovation)
I must have been there during a very empty week. I barely saw other women and always had my own room. I only saw other people in recovery, but we were separated by curtains.
