What do you think of this gift?
My BFF is due with her first baby next month and her shower is next weekend. So far I got her:
-A set of holiday bibs (handmade on etsy)
-A personalized burp cloth
-"New Baby" basket with all the new baby essentials (snot sucker, saline, nail clippers, thermometer, shampoo, lotion, diaper cream, etc.)
I was thinking of making her a "New Mom" basket with nursing pajamas, maxi pads, granny panties, motrin, nipple cream, etc. and I was going to make her a list of things to remember during the first few weeks.
So two questions:
1. Would you not want to get pads and granny panties in front of all those people at your shower, and
2. If you wouldn't mind getting that stuff, what else would you add to the basket?

What do you think of this gift?
I think that is an awesome gift and would not mind opening it in front of guests. I know I needed those things when I came home from hospital abs had to send DH out for some of them!
I'd also add a gift card for her to get a mani/pedi when she's ready. I kniw I couldn't wait to get out and do that!

I think these are awesome gifts! I wouldn't mind getting that stuff, I would just tell her she doesn't have to open the basket and hold everything up in front of everyone. I would add witch hazel pads, nursing pads, the freezy gel pads, a camelback water bottle, slippers, maybe some snacks for motn feedings.

great gifts! I personally wouldn't want to open the pads and granny panties in front of people. Maybe you could just give it to her at a different time or just tell her to open it later?

I think those are awesome and would not mind getting them in front of everyone. I would joke about it. LOL And I would love a gift like that.
I would add Tucks Medicated Pads and the numbing spray for down there... lol
ETA: Just to add Im not conservative or up tight about that stuff so to talk about it in front of people doesn't make me uncomfortable. If shes the same way then I say go for it. IF shes not and you notice shes a more quiet person about that stuff then maybe reconsider giving it to her one on one. You know her best.

I think its great. I wouldnt care about opening that stuff. Usually showers are all women so they know the deal.

If she is a drinker, I would add the strips you can get to test your breast milk for alcohol and a bottle of wine. Cute ideas.

Funny - I bought them for myself but still haven't used them - I should give them to her!

all the "new mom" type stuff I'd want in that basket would be: nipple cream, notepad and pens, saline solution, juice boxes (easy to drink with one hand while holding the baby in the other), pads, lip gloss, etc.

1000% - she is a total hippie and says she will not give up on bf'ing no matter how hard it is!
I think in the end I am going to skip the pads and granny panties - I am going to do the what to expect the first year book, wine, alcohol strips for testing the milk, nursing pads, nipple cream, motrin and tucks pads. And I am going to type up a list of the things I wish someone told me before I gave birth!

Very cute idea and I second the "numbing cream". Maybe it's called Dermaplast? I was a big fan those first few weeks. Motrin too.
