boy moms please....

yesterday my son had a 15 month check up (it was actually his 1 year)
When he was in my lap the doctor check his penis...said hold him and then she pulled his foreskin all the way back and my poor boy screamed! He is circumcised but apparently it was reattaching. Now of course I googled it and everything Im reading says never pull back on their foreskin (especially with such force) he is a little bloody when I gently pull it back for a second.
Has anyone else ever heard or had this done?

just to add: a friend had to have their son re-circumcised because it reattached which is what the doctor said she was preventing.
Just really mixed feelings Chat Icon

Re: boy moms please....

This happened to my son but it wasn't noticed until recently (and he's four). We moved and changed doctors. It's not that bad and they told me he may outgrow it. The doctor never suggested getting him recircumsized but we are going to see a pediatric urologist. There is a numbing cream they use and gently pull the foreskin back to unattach the skin. The doctor also said it may correct itself once he starts to get erections...oh boy!

Re: boy moms please....

thanks

Just to clarify its no longer attached...the doctor yanked back on it and basically ripped it back...that's the part I never heard of anyone doing Chat Icon
I didn't know what she was about to do when she just did it

This happened to one of my friend's sons- the dr just ripped it back with no warning.

It is actually pretty common... It is usually noticed when they are younger... It is the fasted and easiest way to do it.. Not pleasant but now it is done.... Just keep an eye on it. Put some vaseline on it.. It will help with friction from the diaper..

This happened to my son at his 6 month appt I believe... Doc did the same thing, it was red for a while but I put Vaseline on it, it got better, I just made sure to pull it back at diaper changes gently to prevent it from happening again. Today was his 1 yr checkup and it was fine apparently, good luck, ps I wonder if we see the same doc lol

Happened to my son we actually had to go urologist bc the ped thought he would need to be recircumcised. Luckily the urologist just pulled the skin back, no recircumscision needed. It is common Chat Icon

My nephew same thing. My SIL didn't expect the dr to do that but it happened. A warning would have been nice but seems like its common thing they do when needed.

The same situation happened with my son....more than once unfortunately. My first pediatrician said it would resolve itself. My new pediatrician feels the conplete opposite and "fixed" it. My little guy is absolutely fine. We saw a pediatric urologist and he agreed that it should be separated whenever necessary. Dont worry.....
