Help! My DS still will not nap on his own!

My DS is going to be 2 years old soon.
He sleeps great at night through the night in his crib with no problem! It's his naps that give me an issue.
I don't mind sleeping with him for a nap because sometimes I could use the nap with him however, I can't do it all the time. He has to lay down with me in my bed for a nap.

I've tried placing him in his crib drawing the curtains and the same routine I did when trying to get him to sleep in his crib at night when he was a newborn and that worked.
Why is he giving me such a problem for his nap?!

Anything you girls can suggest that worked for you?
Listening to him screaming crying mommy is really breaking my heart now. He's been in his room for 10 minutes now and will not stop and go to sleep!!

My dd is the same way. Naps great for my nanny in the crib (2-3 hours) for me will only nap in stroller(2-3hours). My dd is 21 months.

He didn't stop crying after a few minutes so invent in and got him... As soon as I put him in my bed with me , he passed right out. Slept for an hour and a half.
Oh well...

He still needs to nap in the afternoon. He gets very cranky if he doesn't .

still can't believe it's mommy

Re: Help! My DS still will not nap on his own!

I drove my DD around for a year to avoid the nap time battle!
Eventually that even stopped working so I had to teach her to nap in her crib.
She's 2 also so it wasn't easy.
It took a month of torture but she's pretty good now.
I actually talked to a sleep coach to help me do it.
I do the same routine as bedtime (wash up, change diaper, 2 books, 3 songs, in crib)
When she flipped out going in the crib I said mommy will be right back, went out & came back in in 1 minute to re-assure her I was still there. Rubbed her back a little, told her she needs to sleep, stayed in about 2 minutes & left. Went in again after 3mins, 5mins, 10mins & so on.
It's a little crazy because you go in so frequently but it just killed me to hear her scream "mommy open the doorChat Icon .
The first couple days it took about 40 minutes & I went in & out a bunch of times, it was pretty sad but that was the worst of it, after a few days I only had to go in once in a while.
The reason it took a whole month was because after the first few days she started fighting the routine since she knew what was happening. Once she gave in to that she started throwing things out of the crib & crying to get me to come back, it was really hard but eventually she accepted it.
Now the issue is some days she just plays in there for over an hour & doesn't even fall asleep Chat Icon oh well, at least we both get to rest.
Every kid is different so don't know how it would go with yours but it worked for us. Good luck.
Oh ...& if it just wasn't working after an hour or it was a day I couldn't take it, I just went in & said "naptime over" just so she didn't think she won the nap battle.

bELLAOCCHI-- I COULD have written your post word for word! I mean literally, DD is 20 months, she sleeps through the night without a problem, ha ssince she was 10 weeks old and has always been a mess with naps. I finally got her into a good routine with sleep but it involves laying down with her in my bed.. some days I am able to slip out after she falls asleep assuming I have not already fallen asleep too, other days she will wake up one she senses I am not longer there. Napping along with her sometimes is nice sometimes but sometimes I just need to get stuff done and I can only do it when she is napping. I have tried the bedtime routine and it didn't work .. she would wail once I put her in the crib and I just never tried cry it out-- I just count my blessings that she sleeps at all since we would fight it so much when she was younger!
