Do any of your have experience with these hospitals? My OB is retiring and I have delivered previously at Winthrop and loved it.
I am not familiar with Mercy or Huntington at all. Are they good or should I keep up with my OB search? Will I have my own room? I am having a section so I cant imagine having to share a room in so much pain.
Thank you ladies.

I loved HH. You can have a private room if you pay for one.

Re: Huntington/Mercy
My experience at Mercy was 16 years ago with DD#1. I am quite sure things probably have changed since. I had a private room and didn't pay extra for it. Everyone was friendly except for one nurse during my postpartum stay(which made me not want to deliver there again).

Re: Huntington/Mercy
I gave birth to my 3rd at Mercy and not on purpose I was supposed to deliver at Winthrop because I would need the NICU. My daughter wound up being born at Mercy and spent over a month in the NICU there. I had an amazing experience. The staff was beyond great. I did wind up being in a room by myself (partly due to the fact I was having issues with my pregnancy)
And the NICU was amazing as well.
For reference: I delivered my first at Winthrop and it was a disater. 46 babies in the nursery and women on stretchers in the hallway waiting for beds. They couldn't even keep up with the laundry so my baby often had spit-up on his shirt all day.
My second was born at South Nassau which was awesome since it was just re-done. Private rooms the food was "good" for hospital food.

Thanks ladies. I am so nervous since I don't know anyone who has ever been to these hospitals.

I'll be delivering at Huntington. My sister had all four of her kids there and my SIL had her two there. They both have no complaints. The rooms are not private, but they are not always busy so you might get one to yourself.

I loved Huntington. I delivered there exactly 7 weeks ago. The nurses in l&d were amazing and maternity and nursery too. There weren't any private rooms avail when I was there but we lucked out and had a double without a roommate!!!!

Re: Huntington/Mercy
I delivered DD at Huntington and will deliver this next baby there, too. I have nothing but good things to say. The staff was fantastic. They really try to give you your own room for one of the nights that you're there. I had my own the first night and had a roommate for the second (then she got her own room once I left). I believe you can pay additional $ to guarantee your own room.
