is DIY keratin worth it?
my mom gave me a box of at-home keratin treatment.
i don't recall the brand.
is it worth it to do at home?
i need it to last two weeks. anything after that is gravy.
my son has curly hair, just like me. he's let his hair grow and i iron it straight for him. he's going away for two weeks and i won't be there to iron his hair. if i use the at-home stuff, will it be enough to keep his curls under control until he comes home?
i don't have the money to go to a salon, but if i have to, i will... there is just no way this kid can go two weeks with crazy curly LONG hair lol

I have bought one of the salon brands off ebay and did it myself. Never tried the drug store bands but I am sure it will at the very least calm it a bit.

i guess i can give it a shot. if it works, it was free. if it doesn't, i'll cough up the cash and have a professional do it.
i do have the fancy schmancy iron... which i hear is the most critical item to have.

No i have an iron I bought at Ulta...$40 max but probably not even that much. I refuse to spend money on things like that. The Only thing you need is an iron that heats up to 400 degrees. You could probably find on at target that does it....

Kaeratin isn't going to make it pin straight like when you flat Iron. Just takes the frizz out but it will still be wavy or curly.
Maybe teach him how to use a flat Iron??? He is 18 right? He is should be able to do his own hair at this point.

oh. i thought keratin made it straight!
looks like JR will be getting the at-home treatment and a crash-course in using the flat iron... luckily, he'll be staying with family and there are teenage girls out there. i'll send the iron out with him and have them have a go at it.
thanks for the info
