Framing
I am looking to put up some pictures/artwork up in my house (varying sizes-- some relatively big .....and a series of artwork that DH has which will be put up in our finished basement - probably 8-10 pictures)......where do you go to get things framed i.e. have them frame it, mat it etc. (not just buy frames)-- nice frames but not crazy expensive. Is Michael's the best bet? I am in the merrick, bellmore, wantagh area. Any ideas are appreciated!

Re: Framing
Custom framing is very expensive. I had 7 frames with mats custom made and they cost about $500.
Now, I just but cheaper pre made frames and get mats custom cut by hobby lobby. Their mats are very reasonably priced.
If you look in my album, you can see a set of 6 framed intaglios. I bought the frames for super cheap at hobby lobby, painted them myself and had mats cut out.

I've had a few things framed at Michaels - they came out really nice, but even with coupons, not super cheap, but not crazy expensive (I usually go in thinking I'll just get something simple done and then wind up with a more expensive frame, double matting, non-glare glass ,etc)

Re: Framing
If you want nice custom framing, there's a place on sunrise highway in massapequa park. It's across from the train station. We have had a few pieces framed there and they came out great

i usually take my pictures to AC moore, they tend to have sales pretty often. it still costs anywhere from $100-250 depending on the size, matting and frame.

Thanks all. I didnt realize that framing was so expensive! One of the things I want to frame is REALLY cheap so it will be weird to spend so much on framing for it....another is more sentimental so I'm ok with spending a bit. The big issue is DH's collection is MANY individual pieces to be framed-- guess we may have to do those on our own.
