Riviera Maya?
DH and I are looking into Riviera Maya for a trip in 2-3 weeks (we're late planners). Any advice on hotels, areas, things to do? Trip advisor gets overwhelming. We're not opposed to all inclusives and since we're leaving the kiddies with the grandparents an adult only place would be nice, but not necessary. We do want a hotel on the beach.
TIA!

Royal Catalonia Tulum. Adults only, affordable, great beach, delicious food.
We stayed here 4 years ago. The food was great, the rooms were comfortable, very nice beach and pool.
Pros other than above - Smoothie bar on the beach Nightly entertainment
Cons In the middle of nowhere. You cant walk around town like you can in cancun. The hotel is on a high way
No elevators for the rooms. We were on the top floor and the walk up the stairs was rough, especially since it was close to 100 degrees
Far walk from beach to hotel rooms and main lobby

Re: Riviera Maya?
Secrets Capri! DH and I went there a few years ago with a group of friends and LOVED it!
This was an adults all-inclusive and althoguh we went with 3 other couples it def isn't a party place. It's about an 1 1/2 drive from Cancun. I'd go there again in a heartbeat if the opportunity presented itself.
Food was amazing rooms were amazing day activities were good. It def dies down in the evening.
DH and I can't sit at the beach/pool all day so 1 day we took a cab into town to walk around for awhile and grab some food. It was nice.
We went on an excersion that included ziplining, rappeling, and swimming in the cenotes. This was followed by lunch. It was a nice day. We also went over and saw the ruins at Tulum.
If you go I'd go to Chichen Itza ruins instead of Tulum. I don't know why we didn't go there lol.

Re: Riviera Maya?
My parents stayed at the Sandos Playacar and thought it was great. They stayed in the Select Club, which is adults only. They travel a lot and enjoyed it.
They also have stayed at the Excellence Riviera Cancun In the swim up suites. They also were happy there.
