How do you do things w/ older DC when you're pregnant & nauseous ALL day

DD is 2 and I'm 9 weeks pregnant and have constant nausea and I'm seriously fatigued! When I was pregnant w/ DD I was never sick, only tired and I worked part time and napped all day. Now I'm a SAHM, and I feel like I've done nothing around my house in weeks. DH is doing the grocery shopping, but my house is a mess. When I feel ok, I take DD out instead of cleaning. But I feel bad for DD bc we basically stay in lately so I can rest on the couch while she plays. I feel like I'm ruining her summer. We've only been to the beach once, and otherwise just go to my parents pool. I'm really hoping this passes in the next few weeks and I start to feel better!

I feel like I should just suck it up and force myself to do things, but I don't want to overdo it and wind up worse off than I feel now. Chat Icon

I know how you feel. A lot of things got neglected during my first tri because I just didn't have the energy. I felt so guilty that DD was suffering because of it, so I know what you're going through.

It sucks and you just have to get through it and reserve your energy for the really critical things. It's only temporary. It feels like you're ruining her summer, but she's not going to remember any of this and will adjust perfectly fine.

My dd is 2 1/2 and I am almost 7w. I am sick all the time too. I am off in the summer (teacher) and lately we have been going to my moms a lot so my mom can play with her and I can rest. I threw up in front of her the other day and she put her hand on my back and said "Its ok mommy it will be over soon" lol. Cutest thing ever. We have not told her yet and dont plan to until after the anatomy scan but she knows mommy has been sick and she is really being great about it. Hope you feel better soon

I was really sick for the first 15 weeks and I feel bad, but we really didn't do much during that time. I'm home with 2.5 year old and work freelance from home. I would go into our playroom/basement and lay on the couch while she played. Sometimes in the middle of the day, I'd say, "let's watch TV in mommy's bed," just so I could lay down. I felt bad, but I couldn't do things like take her to park. I was way too nauseous. Fortunately, it passed and now I'm trying to keep her super-busy to make up for the first trimester.

That's hard as a SAHM. Chat Icon DH did alot with DS to keep him occupied when I was in the first trimester. But I was also working and DS was in daycare so it was a bit easier for him to be involved in things even if I wasn't feeling up to par the little time I had with him. By the time he got home each day, he'd just watch some TV before bed.

Hope you and the other posters feel better soon!!

Thank you, everyone, for your responses! It's nice to know I'm not alone, and as a PP said, DD won't remember this summer much anyway! Hope we all feel better soon! Chat Icon

You are certainly not alone. I posted about this a couple of weeks ago. I am 7 weeks along with twins and am EXHAUSTED to say the least. My DS is also 2 and I've been doing my best to keep up with him. I do nap whenever he naps and that seems to help me have enough energy to get through the rest of the day with him. Not sure how this will all work by the time I go back to work. Do not feel guilty. THey are still so young and won't remember any of this as you get older (I know I don't remember much of being 2). Just take lots of pictures of the fun things you did and show them to your LO when she is older to remind her of those good times. Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon I like the picture idea! Haha...I'll fabricate a good summer in her photobook!

DD just recently STOPPED napping... No matter what I do to try and get her to nap! And now I don't have the energy to try...so no more naps for her! Chat Icon Chat Icon
