My DH set up our monitoring and it runs about $18 per month. The initial setup varies based on what you want. The ADTs and other like companies usually have a free install, but it's basic. Parts for our job ran $1k and labor was free since my DH does alarm systems. If you're adding cameras and what not it can really get expensive. Also depends on if you're doing wired or wireless. He just did an install for someone else that ran $6k!

We pay $38/month, but the higher price is due to the wireless system we have. We have our phone line through the cable company, so if the power goes out our phones go down too. With the wireless system, even if we lose power we do not lose our alarm system. It will still call out to Central Station if anything happens.
I believe our original install was somewhere between $1500-$1800, but that does not include all the wiring, which was done when they refurbished the house.
ETA: We have TelStar. I would not recommend going with ADT, I've heard terrible things about them.

we pay about $95 every 3 months, I think last year it was $90 so it went up... we are also in the middle of a 5 year contract, which kind of stinks if we ever wanted to switch companies (have more than 3 years to go). I know there is a "free' basic system but we paid a little more because we wanted more windows covered, I think it was like $100 a window.

Our seller told us it is 90 every three months for slomins, have not moved in yet to hook it up, do not know how much installation is.

We used Banner Alarm for our house, they did an amazing job with the install. All windows and doors are wired and we have a motion sensor for the living room. I think it was around $1400 initially, hard to remember as it was 8 yrs ago.
We pay $68/quarterly for monitoring through central service.
