Question about hcg and progesterone levels
Hi girls! I know I should know this info but I thankfully did not have any issues so I didn't pay much attention.
I have a friend that unfortunately has miscarried a couple times now. She is currently 3 weeks pregnant and it seems her HCG ( I believe I'm getting this right) went from 9 to 5. I know under 5 means you are not pregnant but has anyone had a level of 5 and then things progressed well?
I feel So bad for her :(

Question about hcg and progesterone levels
it went down so there is probably no chance that anything is progressing at all. SOunds like a chemical pregnancy.

Please excuse my stupidity but what does chemical pregnancy mean? Like everything was there that was needed but things just arent progressing so it won't develop?

Re: Question about hcg and progesterone levels
Is her HCG 5 or her progesterone 5? They are very different.

Its a very early miscarriage before a Heartbeat can be seen.

I was wrong, it was the progesterone that went down...

Question about hcg and progesterone levels
Progesterone needs to be over 4 to maintain a pregnancy. I am guessing they have her on or increased her progesterone(pio or suppositories). Mine dropped to 6 and they just increased my dose.

Question about hcg and progesterone levels
You cant really tell much from progesterone... some people can sustain a pregnancy with super low p#s... its the hcg # that will tell her the most...
They should have prescribed her progesterone on her first # of 9.
