Please share your recommendations on cruises!
Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Jewel or Carnival Splendor?
So far my research on reviews on cruise critic is not so good regarding Carnival Splendor.
Which cruise line have you been on? I'd like to leave out of NYC port.

Please share your recommendations on cruises!
I've been on 6 Carnival cruises and don't have a single complaint.
We are booked on NCL Breakaway for the end of August. I've heard good things and I've heard bad things but regardless I'm looking forward to it.
Keep in mind when it comes to reviews that more people will complain about things they don't like than rave about things that they do like.

I have been on NCL and RCCL and like RCCL better. RCCL leaves out of NJ and goes to Bermuda on a 5 day cruise or the Caribbean on a 9 day cruise.

I've been on all those lines plus princess... Princess was prob my favorite but I don't think they have any that leave out of ny... Maybe Bayonne though.
Ncl I love the atmosphere but I think the included food is nothing to write home about... Basically it forces you to pay for the specialty restaurants.
Rccl I haven't been on in 10 yrs so I'm sure a lot has changed with the food but it was really good back then... Carnival is eh for food as well... I think all the mainstream lines have been going down
I try to pick cruises based on itineraries... Certain ports I don't like, others I love... I try to go with which one has the best ports for me (I've seen most every Caribbean island out 7 cruises)
Cruise critic is a great place to research though... I get a lot of my tours through independent vendors on there instead of through the cruiseship which normally charges quite a bit more.

Please share your recommendations on cruises!
I'm always wary about booking independent tours for a couple of reasons.
1. If the ship misses the port or changes itinerary last minute, you may not be able to get a refund or reschedule.
2. Should the tour run late due to traffic or some other reason (mechanical failure), the ship will not wait for you whereas if you were booked through the cruiseline, they will wait for you.
The only port I'd consider booking independently is Bermuda b/c you're docked there for 3 days so if it's late, it doesn't matter unless it's the last day.

Please share your recommendations on cruises!
I have been on Princess, NCL, Carnival and Disney multiple times. I just did the NCL Breakaway and loved it and will be doing the Gem out of NY next year. Disney was the top for us for a family vacation, it was a little boring at night. Next was NCL. I loved it. It is a totally different feel than other cruises as it is pretty casual. We did not get dressed up one night and the entertainment/bars were great. They would be my choice out of NY unless Disney comes back.

Thanks for your suggestions! Decided I'm going on the NCL Breakaway to Bermuda! In the beginning of Sept for 8 days! I'm super exited. I'm a little nervous about it being hurricane season.. And being out in the Atlantic..
For those who cruised during the possible hurricane months, please tell me all will be okay!
