Another Disney WWYD...

So we are so torn on 2 different timing options for planning our first Disney trip with the kids. They will be 2 1/2 and 4 1/2. I could really use some BTDT help since my DH is none at all and tells me "whatever you want to do" lol.

So we have 2 different options of when to go - each with pros and cons.

Option 1- 2nd to last week in august (next year).
~Of course my main cons to this is the heat and rainy days. The heat really worries me bc our kids are so young. My Dh doesnt think it will matter at all bc we are morning people so we will be at rope drop and my younger one will need naps anyway so we will be going back to hotel mid day no matter what.
~Pros is that since my DH is off (he is a teacher) we can be there for a longer period of time. We can do 5 or 6 days. I also hear crowds are somewhat moderate at this time??

Option 2- Early November (around Veterans day).
~Cons is that we can only have 4 full days there and I am worried its just not engouh time. But I hear that bc its lower crowds you can get alot done in the short amount of time??
~ Pros is the weather is nicer, its around my DD birthday and hopefully it is a good time crowd wise..

So my wwyd is would you go in the heat with moderate crowds but can be there for a full week....
Or
In november with nicer weather and lower crowds but only have 4 days to be there?

Thanks so much!!

Is there anyway your DH can take one or two days in November? I would personally rather go in November. I was there the first week in June and its miserable hot.

he can, which is why November is an option. Its just we would only have 4 full days instead of 5 or 6.

November hands down even with the shorter trip. Cheaper, no summer heat, and you might catch the end of Food and Wine.

We're going next August, same time (I'm a teacher also). We wanted a full week in Orlando, so that works best for us. We're also doing a week in St. Pete Beach before. We haven't had a problem with the heat or rain the other times we have done this week and the crowds weren't bad at all.

I went the last week in Aug once and had an amazing time. No lines whatsoever and free dining plan. My best disney trip ever and I've gone at least 10 times.

We were down there during New York's recent heat wave and we had much cooler weather in florida. If you do Disney in 4 days you won't really get any down time to yourselves cause you will feel very rushed. We take our time and get to actually enjoy it ourselves. When your dh gets back to work he'll be exhausted.

These are all the points my DH is making as well. Our kids are also still very young (4&2) and they wouldnt be able to go all day.

We can only go the second to last week in august.. my dh starts coaching the last week - do you know if it is just as uncrowded?

I agree with your dh. If you are staying on property utilize the extra magic hours. We have been going since my kids were as young as 8 months. We do parks in morning, pool and nap in afternoon, then park in evening. We like to do a lot of sit down dinners to cool off and relax, but we make them at odd times so that we can optimize our experience. Sometimes our children used to actually be asleep in their strollers during dinner for their second nap of day. They would be so tired. But we are super flexible on vacation and truly enjoy disney.

I don't think crowds will be too bad that week, but not as good as last week. Be sure to go ahead of your party for fast passes. Take all your tickets with you and go alone, because it will be so much quicker. Get them every two hours. You will surely need a fast pass for Peter Pan and Toy story. They do run out. I frequently send my husband with the kids on a ride while I run for a fast pass first thing in morning. We never wait on any lines longer than twenty minutes no matter when we go, we just don't. I do a lot of running in the morning, but its worth it cause I get down time later. GOod luck.
