Best Makeup Counter to learn basics
I am not a big makeup person, but would like to be better, specifically with eyeliner.
Where is the best counter/store where they will (patiently) help a makeup spas? I walk by MAC in Roosevet Field all the time, but it seems intimidating.
I am eager to buy whatever product works, just need basic instruction.
I have Clinique eyeliners, but don't really like them and think Clinique, overall, isn't what it used to be.
TIA

Don't be intimidated! I think the staff at the MAC store in RF are really nice!
I usually go to Nordstrom in RF - I just think its calmer in there. I would make an appointment with them - they will show you what to do and try different things - I think you have to buy $50 of product.
ETA I prefer MAC and NARS makeup.

Re: Best Makeup Counter to learn basics
For eye makeup you need to have a set of brushes. Target has a few good sets for user $20. I used to never be able to get eyeshadow to look the way they did it in the store until I started using brushes. I also find youtube videos to be very helpful because you can watch them over and over. I always have trouble finding a foundation that matches my skintone. I bought 3 different foundations from back and was never able to find a good match. The problem is that eyerything looks fine in the store but when I get home i realize that the color doesn't match. What I do now when I want to switch foundations is get my whole face done and leve without buying it. The. I look at it in natural lighting and at home. If it looks good ill buy it the next day. The same goes for blush.

It really depends who you get there though. A lot of the staff are more sales people than make up artist & don't always know what they are talking about.

I wouldn't do Sephora. Some of them are clueless. Go to Nordstrom or bloomies and hit up Nars, MaC or Bobbi brown
