So be honest, how much does disney really cost?
DS is 2. We have the fund started. Our goal is to take him at 6.
For a family of 3, airfare, hotel, food, disney passes...rough estimate?

We find Orlando to actually be a quick, cheap vacation. If you get yourself a card that earns miles, you can get free or cheap flights. Stay at a timeshare hotel, such as the Sheraton Visitana, The Holiday Inn Orange Lakes, or the Wyndham Bonnet Creek, and if your son is age 2 or younger he gets into the parks for free and flies for free. You should go now :)

Completely variable. Depends on where you are staying, what kind of food you eat, etc. You can spend $2k, and you can spend $10k.

It all depends. We're going the end of March and it's close to $6,000. I'm a family of five though but, my youngest DD is 2 so we only have to pay for airfare for her. That price includes airfare, hotel (PO French Quarter), park tickets w/ park hopper, dining plan and insurance.

This. There are sooooo many variables that determine the overall cost. Your accommodations, time of year you visit, dining plan, ticket choices, length of stay. I've done Disney fairly cheap and I've done Disney spending a lot more. It really all depends. Your best bet might be to speak to a Disney travel agent and have them help you decide on all the details so you get the best vacation possible for the most affordable price.

I have priced a whole bunch of different times and hotels. If you are looking for a ballpark figure I would say around $4-5k has been where all of my quotes have shown

We paid 3300 for a family of four stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter and it included the dining plan. 5 nights in November 2011. It was great and the parks were basically empty we hardly waited on lines at all.

You'd be surprised at just how affordable Disney can be. There are so many variables including resort, tickets, dining, and time of year. Hotel rooms start at about $85 a night for value and $330 a night for deluxe. (This doesn't include any promotions or discounts.) Disney often offers room only discounts that can save up to 30%, and offers free dining as well. (offers cannot be combined)
As a Disney specialist I do my best to find the absolute best package to fit my client's needs.
While you may not be planning on going for several years, please reach out to me so I can help you start your planning process and help you set your budget.

Re: So be honest, how much does disney really cost?
The answer to this question really varies SO much (like thousands of $$) based on HOW you do Disney.
Hotel - you pay for convenience in Disney - the more convenient the hotel the more $$$. Monorail hotels can run you thousands more for the same stay. But, IMO, can be worth every penny.
Dining - you can do dining on the cheap or character meals every night. Again, we are talking hundreds of dollars difference maybe even thousands depending on how many people in your group and how many days/nights you stay and what you do. Again, IMO, if you are going to Disney and shelling out the $$ already and, if you are not going often - I would plan for at least a few character meals...
Tickets - This range isn't that much but, you can choose to do one park per day or have the hopper option which adds hundreds.
Flights - varies by time of yr, time of day, airline.

Re: So be honest, how much does disney really cost?
Varies but if you stay at a cheap hotel, you can probably do Disney for around $3000 assuming you don't go during peak times.
