Dangers of long term clomid use?
Has anyone ever heard that you shouldn't take clomid for an extended period of time?
I've already taken it for 6 months, and I'm worried that if I do not have a BFP next week and I have to do the 3 more IUI's, that that is too much clomid. I remember hearing something about how it shouldn't be used for a long period of time.
Clearly I will talk to the RE about this, just wondering what your experience with this was.
Maybe I should ask for something else? Clomid 100 mg has only enabled me to produce one follie a cycle (but hey - one is better then NONE without it!)

Clomid didn't work for me, he moved me onto gonal F
It's a shot you give yourself daily but had a better outcome for me

I had read/heard somewhere that clomid shouldn't be used longer than 6 months, but I can't remember where I saw it... probably Dr. Google.

If you're not responding well to Clomid ask them to switch you to the injectibles. Many women have more success on them and respond better then on the Clomid. Good luck!

Trust Dr. Brenner..I got PG with Clomid before but am doing my first injectible cycle with gonal...speak to him but I felt the same about Clomid, as did he...it also messed with my lining and on gonal, does not seem to be an issue, knock on wood...

You really want to watch out for lining issues. Lining issues at implantation could cause a plethora of issues ranging from implantation failure, miscarriage, and complications in the third trimester.

ita i do not like clomid for long term use,esp when u can use femara and get same results

ITA. And if you've had so many IUIs with Clomid, and you're only getting 1 follie and no BFPs then I'd think it's time to try something else. Femara is a pill, similar to Clomid, though people respond differently on it. Or injectables is another option.

Your doctor will likely move you on to injectables. They do not like to use clomid more than 6 months. It thins your lining. I switched to gonal f this last cycle and got my BFP. Sometimes changing up your protocol is just what your body needs!

Clomid can thin your lining. I did 3 Clomid cycles and 2 Gonal F cycles. My RE says 3 of something and then move on. Definitely speak to your RE about changing it up. Injects have a higher success rate, they didn't work for me but I was willing to do whatever to improve my chances. Good luck.
