something I wonder about amanda bynes
After her alleged bong-throwing incident/arrest in May, she was evaluated at a hospital - reportedly for a psychiatric evaluation. This was done in NY, which I know is different than California with the 5150 holds/evaluation.
I wonder what the NY hospital found, if anything? It seems like she was cleared, because if she need treatment or was found to be mentally ill, wouldn't that have impacted her arrest somehow?
just made me wonder.

Maybe she got worse? I mean she doused her dog in gas (accidently or not) and then lit a fire in a strangers driveway. I don't think throwing a bong out the window when cops are knocking on your door is totally crazy. Dangerous and stupid.. yes.. but, not lock you up in a hospital crazy. Maybe up until this minute she still was able to turn on the normal in front of the right people. I have dealt with mental illness for a looong time with someone I am close with and it is amazing how quickly they can appear to be totally rationale. Until someone sees through it or they just can't anymore.

Mental illness doesn't mean someone is walking around in a housecoat muttering gibberish all day - in some instances, people with mental illness are more cunning, clever and crafty than you'd ever think, they are masters at concealing their illness and put on incredible acts of lucidity. So unless we were in the room, there's no way to know how she presented herself to the doctors. They can't diagnose her with mental illness because she had a funky wig on or threw a bong out the window - being an actor, she may have appeared perfectly lucid and well spoken, satisfying the doctors examination.
Perhaps I'm giving her too much credit, but if she is indeed mentally I'm happy she will have the treatment needed to get herself on track.
