BF moms - huge drop in supply ques

I've EBF DD since day 1, she's almost 8mo old. I went back to work when she was 12 wks, I pump 3 times a day at work and BF her on demand while at home. Things have been going well until this week. Yesterday, I was 3 oz short of what I needed to send to daycare today and I can tell I'm going to be short today too because when I pump in the morning, I typically get between 5-9oz (depending on how many times DD wakes up to eat over night) and today I have 3 whole oz.

WTH?! Where did my milk go and why so suddenly!? Help! I planned to BF DD until at least a year and possibly longer and now I'm starting to stress that those goals are quickly going out the window (and I know that stressing will make it worse...). I am super bummed Chat Icon

This happened to me around the same time. Did you get your period back? If not, it could be coming.

I was able to get to 12 months pumping by using Mother's Milk Tea and Fenugreek. I drank the tea 2-3x a day and took 3 Fenugreek pills 3x a day. Start slow with the Fenugreek (it bothered my stomach when I tried to start full force). Try 2 pills 2x a day and work your way up.

Also - don't stress about it! Stress can have an affect on supply. Good luck!!!!

I took fenugreek supplements for 2 weeks when I noticed a dip in supply and it 100% helped and even after I stopped taking it, my supply stayed. I agree with PP that you may be about to get AF if you haven't yet,...I always noticed a dip right before it came.

Also, I would encourage your LO to BF as much as possible while you're home bc this will also help bring back supply.

Good luck!!

Up your water, eat oatmeal, and try pumping more often. If you can nurse her more often that will probably help too.

Good luck, I remember how stressful pumping was at this stage.

Water, lots of water, and oatmeal. Maybe you need to replace the membranes on your pump? I know these can wear out on the Medela. Even if they aren't torn, they thin out over time.

Thanks everyone. I already eat oatmeal everyday for bfast and drink approx 80oz of water a day, but I haven't been too diligent with the mother's milk tea or the fenugreek. I have both, but sometimes forget to drink/take the supplement, so I need to stay on top of that!

How long should it be before I see a difference in supply if I start diligently taking fenugreek/drinking mother's milk tea? Just curious.
