Re: Travel Trailer
Right now we have a Jayco 17Z hybrid. We really like it. Now that we have a bigger truck we are looking to upgrade to a larger camper.

Do you use it alot? It just seems like with kids it would be nice to have one. We have 2 kids and were thinking of getting one that sleeps 8-10 so we have more room and when they're a bit older there's room for a friend or too. How many does that one sleep?

Re: Travel Trailer
We have been researching for a couple of months and will most likely go with this Jayco Jay Flight. DH has preferred it over other brands, plus we plan buy from a family friend who owns a trailer dealership and Jaycos are highly recommended. We are looking to buy over the winter.

Re: Travel Trailer
Right now it fits us comfortably. The 2 kids sleep in the back bed, DH and I in the front bed. The baby sleeps in the pack and play on the sofa folded down. Technically I think it says it sleeps 8 but there is no way comfortably you could put 8 grown people in there. A lot goes into picking out the type of trailer will suit your needs, 1st you need a vehicle capable of towing it. We try to use it between 4-5 times a year.

We ran over a hunk of plastic on the Clearview over 4th of July weekend and it ripped out the sewer pipe and some hoses. They were so accommodating!

Just curious..I like this one too! What are you thoughts on the 2 sofa beds instead of bunks? Are you figuring the storage is better?

With children I would go with the bunks. Have to pull out sofas and fold them up everyday would be a pain in the neck. JMO. The sleeping capacity on this particular model says 3-6.

Just curious...I was figuring we would park in our driveway behind gate. Do you have any concerns about getting a larger trailer into your driveway? TY..it's new to us..

Re: Travel Trailer
No but we have a very large driveway We can easily park 6 cars in it. Just curious what kind of vehicle you have to tow with? Before you decide on a trailer you need to know the max weight your truck can pull. We have a Suburban but will need a pick up truck to pull the camper we are interested in. DH wants a p/u anyway plus I think a p/u is easier to use for camping.

Hehe we're doing it backwards. It's time for my DH to get a new vehicle so we're deciding on whether or not we are ultimately going to get a trailer and which one first so we can figure out which truck we need to get.
How about the turn to get in the driveway though?

Re: Travel Trailer
I have been researching pop up campers because anything larger will not fit in our driveway and its just the 3of us and our dog. We planned on going to the wading river dealer too.

Good idea, LOL! There is a Big RV show in Hershey Park in September every year, you should think about going so you can see what is out there. We got our camper because at the time we had a Pacifica and it could only tow 3500lbs. So we need to get something small. Even with the Suburban which can tow 8400lbs we want a bigger truck so we can tow more. LOL. As far as getting it in the driveway, you have to back it in. DH still curses everytime we have to do it, or if we have to do it at a campground. It is a tough task for him. Although, everyone says the smaller the camper the harder it is to back up. LOL

Have you thought about renting one for a weekend to see if you really like camping. I know Eastern Long Island Campground in Greenport has rental units and Grand Am in Mastic Beach rents them.

We definitely like camping, we just always were tent campers. Thank you for the rental info! We were thinking of doing that but I only had found one place and it seemed they mainly had RVs. I will check them out.

I used to tent camp all the time even did backwoods camping, but once I started going in a camper, I got very spoiled. I don't think I could tent it again, unless it was a special trip like rafting down the Colorado river where you camp at various points during the trip.
